4.0 out of 5 stars Nice cage for a good price. 13 Sep 2011

I am pleased with the cage. It is large which is good and comes with a variety of things (water bottle, bowl, hay rack, hidey area). It seems well made and the fact that you can lift both parts of the front up means you can clean it without having to take the whole top part off the base. I would say it would be great for a small rabbit as the design suits them.

I bought the cage for guinea pigs and I would like to point out that certainly as babies they cannot reach the water bottle or get to the food bowl on top of the hidey area. I have therefore had to buy a new food bowl and a water bottle which can be mounted inside the cage. The one which comes with it will mount inside the cage but simply slips to the floor when filled with water. These are problems which are probably associated with most cages like this if you are using them for guinea pigs so just bear them in mind.

The bad points about the cage in my opinion are related to cleaning it. Whilst you can lift up the front to clean easily, you cannot get under the hidey area without releasing the side clips too and lifting up the top of the cage. This is a big pain for me as I'd like to be able to get in a pick out any dirty bits inbetween cleans easily without a faff. I have therefore removed the hidey area as they cannot get on top of it anyway, and replaced it with a removeable igloo. The other problem with cleaning is that the cage has a raised sqaure pattern on the base. This makes it difficult to just wipe up mess as it sticks in the pattern. I find this the biggest pain and would rather it was a smooth base.

Apart from the few cleaning issues, I am pleased with the space in the cage and the quality of it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly what it says on the tin 30 Nov 2011

I purchased this as an indoor shelter for my daughters two guinea pigs and small rabbit for those few weeks of the year when it is bitterly cold. Admittedly having had such a mild November it has not really been necessary but nevertheless I have brought them in from outside and they now have a cosy set up in our house. This product is plenty big enough for our three pets although, as with all cages, ours require a reasonable amount of freedom to move and exercise outside their enclosure. Its big enough for me to not feel guilty if they're stuck in it all day whilst I am at work but they are given daily outings anyway. I have given it 3 stars as 1) it came flat packed as expected but with no instructions and was rather fiddly to put together and 2) it looks nothing like the picture that is shown for the product. My cage has front opening doors that lift up basically forming an extension of the roof (like a porch) of the cage. Very handy if you have a small chair to prop it up with as you can leave it open for your pet to hop in and out of the cage but not so good for human access to the cage as you have to lie almost flat on the floor to get in as the door does not lift past the angle of the roof. This may not be such an issue if you have the stand but I prefer ours on the floor so that our rabbit does have the freedom to hop in and out as she wishes. Also the water bottle supplied is uselss as it slides down the holder with the weight of the water so make sure you have one of the tie to the bar variety.

Ease of human access: 3 out of 5
Pet satisfaction: 4 out of 5
Product that was expected: 1 out of 5

4.0 out of 5 stars good cage a few adjustments needed 28 Sep 2012
This is a good strong cage, JUST big enough for 2 guinea pigs, mine use the top of the hidey area, quite frequently and so I have added another lounging log on top for hiding in. Yes the bottom of the cage is gridded, but using a layer of newspaper or cardboard under the hay helps this, or you could put a piece of corex plastic cut to size to help, also makes it easier to wipe down. To solve the problem of the bottle slipping down, put an elastic band over the bottle and it will then sit on top of support and not fall off. Cage front can simply be held with a hook of wire, to allow freedom for animals. Obviously outside time is important.Wire cage edges all round mean lots of balls etc can be hung to add amusement for guinea pigs. Use a seperate feeding bowl to the one supplied, i use the other one for hay cubes.
So a little a bit of adjustments and you could have a good cage for 2 guinea pigs.
