Fenix knocked it out of the park on this one. I was specifically looking for an outdoor light with good throw, plastic handle (metal gets too cold in winter), not so much knurling on the handle to rub your hand raw, flexible modes which are easy to change. It delivers. Other reviews indicate lack of understanding of the use of the light. They complain of it being "too big". Not sure I understand that one. The LD 25 is similar, but is a less powerful Fenix 2 AA light, so if "big" is a concern, that may be the better Fenix light to pick. Frankly, too much knurling is irritating. I see no problems with gripping this flashlight as it is designed. It has modest knurling sufficient to the task. The plastic handle with aluminum head was a brilliant design which allows for a very bright light yet comfortable to hold when cold outside. Build quality is excellent, and should last a long time. Could you drive a truck over it and have it continue working? Probably not, but that is beyond the level of abuse most people would dish out. It is also not a dive light. But it will survive rain and drops into shallow water just fine. Brightness will usually appear less with a neutral color lisht compared to a cool colored light, but in reality is quite a bit more functional for outdoor use since color patterns are not altered significantly with a neutral colored beam, which can penetrate foliage better than cool colored lisht as one reviewer noted. The switch design was very clever, as one switch turns it on, and the other quickly and easily moves through the modes. It also quite conveniently turns on in the previous mode used. This is one of the simplest to operate Fenix lights in this respect, and I have had quite a few of them, and 4 sevens lights as well. Run times are more than adequate, 245 hours at 4 lumens (which is actually useable in dark settings) to 3 hours and 13 minutes at 248 lumens which in real use is as bright as most people would need for an outdoor light. If you are looking for high quality good outdoor light for camping, caving, hiking, and the like, this will serve you well. If you are looking for a tactical light cannon strictly for tactical use, there may be better choices from Fenix and numerous others, but there are very few high quality designs specifically for the purpose of being used in an outdoor setting. I have looked for years for one, and this one is it. 5 stars easy.
