This is an excellent overview of feminist issues--but it's not just filled with summaries of current thinking however, it also contains a lot of original work as well. The author takes a practical approach to various issues such as equal pay, whether women think differently from men, etc. It's not only a good book for learning about feminism, but also very good for learning more about critical thinking. Highly recommended.

I used this book for my dissertation, which was about how pornography objectifies women, and a feminist philosophy course. It is well written & covers a lot of important topics in contemporary feminism.

Feminism gets a bad name, and we all have one point said 'oh those damn feminists,' and even I had a view that was slightly similar. So who would have thought I would have found this book so interesting and engaging.
It covers highly relevant topics relating to gender equality and does so in a very engaging way. It is not a book raving about burning bras and a world without men!
We sometimes are fooled into believing that there is no room for feminism in modern society as we are pretty much equal, but that is due to a misunderstanding of what feminism is. This book covers topics such as work and family, pornography, sadomasochism, sexual harassment, feminine appearance, science and bias and several others. VERY GOOD READ!
