This book was so inspiring and challenging. Carolyn Mahaney is frank and practical yet gentle about our God-given responsibilities as wives and mothers. She expounds on Titus chapter 2 and draws from it 7 virtues we are to cultivate in our lives. Her clear wisdom and humility comes through in the examples she uses from her own life. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Although it is directed at married women, there is plenty of sound, biblical advice which would apply to any woman at any stage of life. However I would also urge men to read it as they could then encourage the women in their life in these areas of godly character. Buy one for your sister, mother, daughter, grandmother and even for your husband, father, pastor etc. It is truly refreshing to read some sound teaching on biblical womanhood.

An amazing book which has taught me how to be a better wife and mother with a more godly perspective (despite all the challenges that are thrown at you during the course of a day!) Many of my friends had read it before me and recommended it to me and I have now bought copies for several of my friends to encourage them in the, often looked down on, job of 'housewife' / 'stay at home mom' too.

Well, I have nearly finished this book and this lady knows what she is talking about. A refreshing look at Titus and how Christian women should apply it. What is also good is that she takes into account single women and young women, and women who do not have babies, and speaks in a very unpatronizing way, for a change. One disappointment, however. She quoted directly from her husband's book and that I find a disappointment. I would have enjoyed having HER own viewpoint and not a repeat of her husband's and that is the reason why I give her 4 points only.

I found the writing style really basic ... I prefer more poetic writing.
In principle great scripture and good points .... I found the author made reference and quotes from another author .... I then purchased that book and was very disappointed that it was very wishy washy, not foundationally based in Jesus and it celebrated "Halloween" and "spiritual ideas".
It concerned me that The author was aligning herself with this lady in her book ... And I had to conclude that a great Holy Spitut filter is needed!

This is fantastic book! I'm on my second reading of it and have bought it for several others as well. I found it really encouraging as well as challenging. I wouldn't say I agreed with everything Carolyn Mahoney says, but I still thought it was great. Perhaps not great for single women, but absolutely great for someone engaged, married or with kids. :)

I am normally quite picky about Christian books, but I can honestly say that I would put this into the hands of any Christian woman contemplating marriage. It is not intended to be a theological work on biblical manhood and womanhood, but is a very practical guide to living out life as a godly wife and mother. If I had one criticism it would be that it is a little prescriptive about women staying at home (I agree that this should be the rule for mothers, but not necessarily for couples without children). However on the whole I found this to be a wise and balanced book written with humility by someone who has years of experience in her role. After reading it, I felt enthused and excited about serving Christ in my home and hope that this is the case for many others.
