Review

JAMES RIPPE MD, Director, Center for Clinical and Lifestyle Research, Exercise Physiology and Nutrition Center. "The whole issue of women′s sports and athletics is really burgeoning. I thinj a book in this area is timely and appropriate. The trick will be to make sure that it contains absulutely up–to–date information and that the target audience is clearly identified ... I do feel that the time has come to put together a good book on female sports and fitness in general". THOMAS PARKER VAIL MD, Ortho Surgery, Duke University. "I think the basic outline is qite satisfactory. I might suggest that you include a section on physiology that might include differences between cardiovascular and musculoskeletal physiology. "I am not aware of any comprehensive book that deals specifically with the female athlete. I do agree that both orthopedic and primary care physicians will benefit from this reference. "Although I do not personally know Dr. Ireland, I have heard nothing but good things about her". CHAMP L. BAKER MD, Hughston Sports Medicine Clinic, Columbus, GA. He likes the basic outline but would put injuries after pregnancy, psychology and age. He doesn′t know of another book available on this topic. He feels that both orthopedic and primary care physicians will benefit from this book. "As editor, Dr. Ireland would be able to handle this project". ROSEMARY MORWESSEL MD, MUSC –Othopaedic Surgery. She believes the outline is good – it should include osteoporosis. She is aware of only one competitior – Saunder′s Clinics in Sports Medicine – Rosemary Agostini, ed – Says Ireland would be a good editor. SUZANNE TANNER MD, Sports Medicine Center, U. Colorado. Outline is good overall. Says some of the the topics, such as anorexia and bulimia should not be separate since they are essentially a continuum. We should include the female preparticipation exam. She knows of the Agostini Clinics book. She thinks the book will be more beneficial to primary care sports doctors than to orthopaedic surgeons. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Comprehensive - actually could be a textbook on physiology.
What the doctors are saying may be found everywhere, yet, this is a mini-encyclopedia
of information!

Books that contain this much info usually cost about $250 USA dollars... so this is
a real deal.

Cell-to-cell communication is vital to health. Cells that can't
