An album of mostly piano-led jazz instrumentals, with brass & rhythm section, of the music to the films of Federico Fellini, mostly written by Nino Roti .
I'm not a great jazz connoisseur and I've only seen a couple of Federico Fellini's films, but most of this album works for me. Most of the tracks have got got an odd sort of dreamy, lyrical swing to them - great to chill out to with your eyes closed. Tracks 4, (La Citte del Donne) and 9 (La Strada) are items of rare beauty.
A few of the tracks (especially track 3) go off the rails to my ears, though be-bop loving jazzers lovers may disagree, and the cymbal-heavy drumming (esp track 8) gets tiresome at times, but overall, well worth your money.
