This was in my family over 30 years ago in 1968, and I recently picked it out of the old 'gramophone' cupboard and played it again. I was amazed by how fresh it sounds. It's really just him, his guitar and his voice, with some string and wind accompaniment, but the whole album has a great laid back feel. California Dreamin' and Light My Fire are the stand-out tracks of course, but elsewhere Don't Let The Sun Catch You Cryin' and Always Something There To Remind Me are way better than the originals and suit his soulful and contemplative singing style perfectly. There are two nice instrumentals (both Beatles tunes) and In My Life, which indicates the influence the Fabs had back in 1968.

Any of these tracks would fit well onto one of the 'chilled-out' compilations currently in vogue.

I bought this album in 1968 and loved it, it eventually got mislaid and I decided to replace it. What a good idea it is as enjoyable and brilliant now 37 years on. I can thoroughly recommend this as the artist at his freshest and best.

So... you're lazing in front of your fire on a cold winter's evening or reclining on your sun-lounger on a hot summer's afternoon and you want to hear something equally laid-back & carefree. Well, here it is... a set of wonderfully romantic interpretations of mid 60's classics infused with Jose Feliciano's languidly beautiful guitar playing & singing. You know the songs - so there's no demands and no surprises - and his style is so inherently relaxing that it's a perfect accompaniment for the mood you're in. Nothing more or less in fact than MOR music at its very best and, as with the "very best" of any style of music, it's quite brilliant!
