I don't know how many times I've recommended it to people who've found themselves with a reactive dog (a dog who barks and lunges when he sees other dogs, i.e. "reacts" to them). But even more often, I've wanted to recommend it to people I see on the streets as I walk every day, people who are struggling to get their dog to stop barking at mine, who is behaving like an angel as we pass! So I'm seriously thinking of getting some cards made to hand out as we pass, recommending this book to people who I know are at their wits' end.
Its only been a few weeks using this method and we've still got some work to do, but since using the methods described in this book, she's gotten to the stage where I've been able to enrol her in obedience classes, in a whole room full of other dogs, and she hasn't shown any aggression to any of them and walks past them easily. She still has the occasional problem when are out on the beach and there are dogs that are off leash and running and barking, but it's more like she gets excited and wants to chase them, whereas before she'd act like she wanted to kill them!!
She isn't treat orientated or toy orientated so it took a while to find something to keep her focus, now I wait until after walks to feed her so she's hungry while out, and take chopped up sausages out with me. The sausages definitely keep her focused
