As will have most people, the link with the television advert (on and of the television!) is why I bought this album. Both the previously mentioned track, Run, and subsequent tracks I listened to on the samples I was reminded of the Black Keys in their bluesier moments which I love. Definitely one for the car on long journeys, preferably on my own!

I come new to this band, and what strikes me from the outset is attitude, often though attitude is seen as a vitality which is by way of an apology for lack of assured talent, perhaps indicating when the still maturing, initial unblemished raw 'get an album out there' approach has evolved into the second albums delight, that there is something to grab hold of and explore.

If I'm right, then Welcome to Kill It Kids second album

Well, I never liked Jack White- I fully appreciated his talent though...but welcome to the band that outdoes Jack White for ripping Blues into new waters, pun intended listen to 'Wild and Wasted Waters'. Ward (lead vocals) has a an awesome vocal ability, at times lush and heartflet and by turns switched to raw and powerful, his chest seeming to heave out of my Cd player,in the midst of raw and dirty blues, and great gut tearing riffs. Shoot me down if you like, but think early Plant...yep I promise you its that good.

As if to slap credibility onto an album , that really does not need it-the music does it all, each track is prefaced by a snippet from the hundreds of recordings made by Lomax on his trips around the States early i the 1900s, a very nice touch indeed.

I see a bit of a problem though, I can't see many younger people reaching out for this music, it does tend to be us older lot who love the blues, and sometimes us older lot aint all that keen on interlopers, well put those attitudes in your back pockets please (regardless of your age), this is bone fide , ball breaking gritty in yer face fantastically played blues, by young British musicians.

Hints of gospel, a nod to american folk tradition, sultry vocals from co-vocalist Stephanie Ward all adds to the appeal of a very assured take on the tradition of deep south blues at its best.

I have eulogised a little, and I make no apology for that, this is one of the finest albums I have heard this year.

I made the connection with this band from the sound track to the TV advert, for the Samsung smart television.
Amazing reflection of the old 1930's American blues, but with a faster tempo

This is my favorite album in many years. It will blow you away if you have even an ounce of taste when it comes to rock... So Turnpin and Ward are first class blues vocals, the guitar playing is incredible as are the arrangements and the other musos. Its also a great sounding album bar the mastering on the singles which are waaaaaayyyyyy to loud and unfortunately stick out like sore thumbs.

On my life I will be very very surprised if they don't make it to in the rock and roll hall of fame in my lifetime because this album merits it on its own.

Go Google the title track if you need convincing, the acoustic stuff on youtube its off the deep end anyway!

This was without doubt my find of the year, everything about Kill It Kid is brilliant - and they live just up the road as well. Check out the advert on youtube!
