I've collected quite a few of Red Garlands discs through the years. I'm stumped as to why this particular one wasn't already in my collection. Oh is now. Red garland never ceases to amaze me and I became a fan of his while listening to Miles and Coltrane.

This particular disc has Red on Piano- Sam Jones on Bass and Al Foster on Drums. Recorded back in 1978. I'm giving this 6 stars not because of Reds beautiful playing but because of Al Fosters drumming. That's not to say that Sam was resting on the bass but Fosters rhythm and timing were spectacular. Some great soloing on tune three.. " On A Clear Day ".

This is the tune I heard on Jazz365 and it prompted me to locate it and then buy it. Other tunes on this 32Jazz Label are as follows.
Its all right with me...You better go now...Going home...The second time around...I wish I knew...and Cherokee.

If your a fan of Garlands straight ahead swinging style of Jazz, do yourself a favor and entertain the idea of adding this one to your collection. If your someone just discovering wonderful Trio settings, jump onto Amazon and get it while you can....its a real gem.
