His unique system clearly shown,
By
This review is from: Fedor: The Fighting System of the World's Undisputed King of Mma (Paperback)
The book begins with a mini autobiography section in which Fedor tells us his background and how he came to become one of the greatest fighters in history. Its interesting but pretty brief and it would have been nice to have learnt a bit more about his background, still, thats not really what this books about and it should be treated as a bonus.
The purpose of this book is to teach the techniques and strategies that Fedor has used to beat some of the best fighters in the world and in this it succeeds very well indeed. Each section (for example, 'striking combinations') starts with a very useful introduction which explains the strategy in employing the move shown. Each move or series of moves is shown from at least two, and often three, angles and this makes it easy to see exactly what is happening. Fedor's unique style constantly shines through, from his punches to his submissions everything has his personal stamp on it. For example, he shows an armbar from the mount in which you put the submission on while staying in the mount, something I've never seen or heard of! His punching style is also different to any kickboxing or boxing instructional out there, he twists straight punches so that they land at a 45 degree angle and throws his hooks with his hand turned far more than is usual so that the two large knuckles connect! Obviously his style works, he has 29 wins, no losses and in his last fight beat a former UFC heavyweight champion in 36 seconds! This book is as good as BJ Penn's excellent volume, if you are interested in MMA training it is a must buy.

The Undisputed King of MMA,
This review is from: Fedor: The Fighting System of the World's Undisputed King of Mma (Paperback)
Fedor Emilianenko is to MMA what Muhammad Ali is to boxing, a true sporting genius, and I believe this book could rival Bruce Lee's Tao of Jeet Kune Do for its step by step instruction on moves that are tried and tested. There's no flashy flying arm-bars or WWF wrestling moves, just no-nonsense bone-breaking strikes, counters and combinations, and killer submissions that make your eyes water. I've tried his 45 degree punches... and Wow! Turning your fist that extra bit when you strike the bag makes all the difference, and you get the full power of the triceps as you do so. As a boxer I've totally fallen in love with this new technique and am using it now daily in the gym. I second one of the previous reviews in that it would have been nice to have more background on the great man himself, but at the end of the day this ain't a biography its a book on how to break people in half. If you have any interest in combat sports at all, then this book is a 100% must buy. You won't be disappointed.

Worth buying, has some useful tips, keeps reasonably to the basics and helps improve them, rather than trying to flout low percentage moves to try and look good.
