All second hand cars are old, this one is a vintage piece from 1984 . Although no Orwellain nightmare ,it is starting to show its age. Although this is an updated version , but all this means is from time to time ,Rick has added in brackets statements like ( There's more info on the WWW ) or ( Today DV is used as much as 16 mm ) . As much as ?!? Or a billion times more than ?
A lot of time is wasted talking about hands on films editing , although there is a 'new' chapter that says if you buy a DV camera , computer and firewire you can edit in your own home. Children do this at school , I don't need to spend £10 to go back to learn the bleeding obvious.
Ricks biggest gaff is when he confuses HD TV , high definition television , with digital television . He says that when everything is broadcast in HD you'll have to get a special adapter to watch it on a normal TV. Nothing is going to be broadcast on HD things are going to be RECORDED on to it.
This is a old school book for blokes with beards and wind-up camera's. Kick its sad deflated tyres, shake your head and walk away.
