Clement Freud, who died suddenly in April 2009, was a man of many parts.His life embraced a variety of careers, including TV chef, gambler, owner of a night club and several racehorses, radio broadcaster, adventurer and - not least - Member of Parliament. I didn't know Clement Freud's writings prior to reading this book, knowing him mainly from his appearances on Just a minute. How much have I missed? There is a piece about the way a toilet roll should be fitted. Very funny indeed; and quite right of course. The writing is excellent, very well observed and extremely funny. The title of the book "A feast of Freud" is a clue to how best to read it. It is indeed a feast and needs to be taken slowly. Put it down every now and then and go for a walk. It's a bit like a box of Belgian Chocolates, very rich and satisfying. And if you're not careful you will discover that it is crammed full of your favourite centres. A word of warning! Don't read this book in the bath you may very well drown.
Recommended reading for anyone - buy it, read it and then tell others.
