Fearless Maverick - Robyn Grady

I'm so loving the Mills and Boon's Bad Blood series and in North America it's The Wolfe's. Robyn Grady again entertained me with her Fearless Maverick. Honestly, this author never disappoints and this incredible book was no exception.

It featured two world champions......Alex Wolfe, a man at the top of his game as a race car driver. Or should I say an injured race car driver who needed to be physically able to participate in the next world class race. And Libby Henderson who also achieved world class status as a top surfer, only to loose a leg in a surfing accident. However, that didn't stop Libby, with the encouragement of family and friends, she was now a top physio therapist and was going to be working with Alex.

After meeting Alex she realized two things and the most important was she wouldn't compromise her principals to release Alex before he was ready to return to the racing circuit. She also immediately realized he was charming, dangerous and tempting; something she couldn't afford. When she had needed her fiance, he had bailed, so she definitely had trust issues, especially when it came to her leg. After weeks of being with him there was a definite sexual attraction between them and being the sexy man he was, he wanted to take it all to the next level with Libby. Then the bomb was dropped by his assistant, and he found out about her prosthesis.

The Wolfe's what can one say about them as a family? They had all gone their separate ways and only recently some of them had reunited but not Alex. Their father was a horrible man, a drunk, abusive and he left behind so many scars on his children. Especially Alex's twin Annabelle and his older brother Jacob, who recently returned home to England after many years of disappearing from his siblings. So much tragedy.

All I can say is Alex had to came to some decisions and some of them hurt Libby. However, when he found out about her accident he was so loving and kind and their relationship took my breath away. Due to selfishness, he pushed her away. However, being the strong and determined woman she was, even though she hurt inside, she continued on and I admired her strength. As for Alex, he had to come to some realizations and try to make things right with Libby.

Could he make it up to Libby? After taking baby steps and making amends with those who had helped him along the way, his sister, brother Jacob, and his mentor he was able to also realize he had hurt and used Libby. However, more than anything like his older brother's, Alex realized what Libby meant to him and how much she enriched his life. This review hasn't shown the depth of this book nor the family secrets. Therefore, I encourage you to purchase it because you definitely won't be sorry.

Fearless Maverick was a beautifully written love story with a ton of lessons to be learned. For me, it was Libby's strength. When I actually read about her accident, how she forged on to make a career for herself, how she didn't feel sorry for herself and how she loved her "cocky" race car driver, that made Fearless Maverick very special for me.

As you may know or not know, the Wolfe Dynasty - aka Bad blood series by M&B chronicles the lives and loves of eight siblings born to William Wolfe, aristocratic and rich but a lousy father and a drunk, who was killed in unpleasant circumstances several years ago. An event that left the Wolfe children deeply traumatised, unable to communicating with one another about the event and scattered all over the globe. Since the news that the eldest Wolfe, Jacob was back and restoring Wolfe manor, all the Wolfe brothers and sister are now forced to deal with their past which they had all buried so deep never to remember but remember they must and heal, but how? They say love is the greatest healer.
Here we read the story of Alexander Wolfe, the twin brother of Annabel, who is a formula one racing champion. The defence of his world championship title is of utmost important to him, but the news from his sister two weeks earlier that Jacob was back had been playing on his mind and without a 110% focus on the track he crashed in his round two race of the year and subluxed his shoulder. His doctors have given him a 6 week recovery time but Alex wanted to be ready in 4 weeks so that he could race in China, he could only afford to miss one race. Enter Libby Henderson, former world surfing champion whose sports carrier was ended by an unfortunate accident, now she is a top physiotherapist helping injured athletes regain their fitness with compassion and understanding having been experienced the same.
Her encounter with Alex, makes for an interesting read, they were both alike in that they had a wounded past, they both needed to take a leap of faith, trust and have the courage to confront things in their past that were still a silent source of apprehension to them. I liked how well Robyn Grady captured the emotions, helplessness, determination and obstinacy that accompany the loss of one's dream or goal through a freakish accident. The self doubt, guilt, denial and acceptance - the stages of grief that one goes through are also well depicted. The Hero was a born charmer and a romantic and treated Libby like his princess, but dumped her unceremoniously to get back to his racing track. When he finds out that racing in no longer enough to fill the void and emptiness in his heart, will he have the courage to go after Libby? Most importantly will Libby ever take him back? They say once bitten twice shy, twice bitten forever smitten - this may well be the case for our Libby. A good very interesting medium paced read.

The Fearless Maverick (Mills & Boon Special Releases)

Fearless Maverick is from Mills and Boon Modern, new series BAD BLOOD and it would also release as Harlequin Presents. There are altogether eight volume in this series which track the lives of a powerful dynasty, where secrets and scandals never sleep, The Notorious Wolfes.

FEARLESS MAVERICK is one brother's story by the fabulous Robyn Grady.

Dare-Devil, bad boy, Alex Wolfe lives for the thrill and excitement of racing and winning. But unfortunately this is all threatened when he is injured during a race and must take some time off to recuperate. Unwilling to admit defeat Alex will to do anything to get back to the world of racing, even if it means seducing his Physiotherapist Libby Henderson.

Unable to pursue her dreams any longer, Libby has now devoted her career to helping elite athletes get back into shape to pursue theirs.

From the moment Libby walks into Alex's house, she can't deny the sparks that fly between them. And the sexy maverick isn't making things easier for her, as he challenges her attraction to him at every turn.

But will Libby be able abandon her professional veneer and let Alex see the insecurities that lurk within and will Alex be able to stop running from his past and hiding behind his cars long enough to trust Libby?

I would definitely like to read the other stories in this series as the Wolfe Dynasty turned out to be so interesting with hidden pasts and skeletons in their closets!

Robyn Grady has always written books that enthralls her readers. Fearless Maverick is no exception with characters that leap of the page and holds you captivated. FEARLESS MAVERICK is sexy, sensual, filled with tension, heartbreak, secrets, scandals and sizzle. A definite page turner by the ever fabulous Robyn Grady and a wonderful piece to the puzzle, that is the Wolfe Dynasty.
