Synopsis
Fearless Fiona is a part-time reporter on the "Daily Screamer" newspaper. She has a nose for a story that would leave a bloodhound howling. Deadline Metalpress, the newspaper's owner, and Fearless' father, says she was born with a notebook in her hand. So, whenever he needs a front page story FAST he calls his daughter on her mobile phone. Fearless is bright, determined and, well, fearless in pursuit of the truth and always gets her story. She is a tomboy, fully equipped with gadgets e.g. mobile pone, mountain bike, and looks with horror on girly girls such as Crinoline and Lacy, daughters of Lord Mothproof. These are very wacky stories, with lots of genuine wit and humour, and the pace never lets up for a moment. Book one: In "The Mystery of the Great Stone Haggis" Fearless' dad instructs her to find out why the Tartan Traveller Hotel is full of people in diving suits calling themselves Haggis: turns out that they are searching for the key to Haggis House, thrown into the lake 100 years ago. The rightful Haggis heir has until midnight that night to find the key and claim the house and land, otherwise it will be sold off to an unpleasant chap called Nigel Pug.
