By Gareth Wilson - Falcata Times Blog TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
I love a crime novel that takes me on an adventure that misguides as well as surprises me throughout. What Craig brings to the mix is a title that does all that but also throws in an unusual element to fascinate as well as confuse the reader. Add to this great writing, solid prose and a cracking pace which when wrapped with a mystery that keeps the reader guessing for the majority of the book and the reader will have a blast. Whilst this is the 6th Jan Fabel novel, all can be read as a standalone like the others and is trust me, once started you'll be hooked.

All in, this is a great read and one that I thoroughly enjoyed, prepare for a late night, prepare for an adventure and prepare for a number of surprises that you won't see coming which makes Craig a real mystery writer whose machinations create a cog turning world within the reader's imagination.

Craig Russell not only provides a gritty, enthralling read but at the same time gives the reader a well researched picture of German police and business organisations. Jan Fabel, the main character, is both human and realistic as the main detective, as well as being attractive. You can always rely on an absorbing read from Craig Russell.

Standard Jan Fabel 30 April 2012
Format:Paperback
A Fear of Dark Water is very much in the vein of the other books in the Jan Fabel series, consisting of the standard twists and turns of a thriller and the moody broodings of a troubled protagonist! The plot leans slightly in to the surreal with the introduction of an multi-national coporation intent on taking over the world and Fabel racing to stop this, but, despite this, it's the kind of good, solid story line you'd come to expect from Craig Russell.
