I bought this book some months ago. I had never tried my hand at felt before, but I loved the pictures so much (they looked so enticing!), I thought I would have a go. There are some very easy projects and some requiring a little more effort, but the explainations are very good, and all the patterns ready to be photocopied. I tried the individual chocolates and found them so easy to make, I followed the decorations of the book, but soon found some of my own. I used the chocolates as beads that I saw onto lond beads necklaces, adding a matching ribbon. My friends loved the necklaces, and bought them in no time...They also made great Xmas presents. I intend to use other designs in the book to make brooches and fruit beads. I definately recommend this book.

This is what I've been searching for! This is a wonderful, inspiring and very helpful book that assists you to create exquisite felt treats and gives you the foundation step by step to create any and all of the beauties in the book. My toddler daughter is obsessed with tea parties and I disliked the plastic and wooden 'cakes' so Pinterest inspired me to the world of felt food and then I turned to Amazon for a book of techniques and patterns and this is the Holy Grail.

This Japanese book (completely English text) has over 100 designs of cake with only a few basic patterns repeating (a few different square and sliced cakes and variations on the donut etc) the rest are all unique, this is brilliant compared to other books which just decorate the same 3 shapes in different ways. Furthermore it gives the patterns for decoration too such as blueberries, strawberry whole or halves, kiwi slices, orange segments etc which is fantastic by itself.

The first half of the book is full colour glossy photographs of the different treats you can create from a full birthday cake sized piece through to a box of Kawaii inspired chocolates:
You have a few full sized cakes,
petit fours or afternoon tea sized portions of different cakes and treats like cheesecake or mousses.
Cookies/biscuits, donuts and sliced cakes
Traditional Japanese sweets
Traditional Japanese tea ceremony treats for each month- frankly heartstoppingly beautiful
Traditional Chinese treats including fortune cookies and moon cakes
Christmas treats- a big chocolate cake and iced biscuits/ gingerbread men
Chocolates- posh chocolates
Fun and frivolous things with little faces on- chips and little candies etc.

I bought this along with the book 'Knitted Cakes' and am now surrounded by inedible woolen and felt dessert items.

It's really not as pointless as it sounds.

just love this book. If you enjoy working with felt then you would find the projects quite easy. Having stitched endless petit fours I looked in cookery books for more inspiration and now have cream horns, battenburg, sweet and savoury biscuits and yummy chocs ! I give mine to friends who are on a diet so they can look and enjoy without the worry of calories.I have also tried stitching the simple cakes with children who have lots of ideas for decorating them which is part of the fun.

I'm really happy that I decided to buy this book. It has some awesome and realistic looking cakes (and a few other sweets), and the instructions seem very easy to follow.

My only problem is that I don't know where to buy the exact colours of felt, lol (if anyone know where to buy it and would please tell me, I would be thrilled :)) I can't wait to start making these as gifts :D
