Some lovely intermediate level designs,
By Young Crow (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Favorite Animals in Origami (Paperback)
The 12 animals diagrammed in this book are (in order of appearance) a whale, a seal, a walrus, a squirrel, a mink, a pig, a llama, a deer, a fox, a bull, a lion and an elephant. All designs in this book are of intermediate complexity. The designs become more complex as the book goes on. (I would put the last three in the high intermediate category.)
I wouldn't recommend this book for a complete beginner, as although there is a quick explanation of all the necessary folds, there isn't really a tutorial. The cover of this book is also fairly uninspiring, and there are no photographs of finished models anywhere in the book. Everyone apart from complete beginners will be pleased to know that the models diagrammed in this book are really rather lovely. They are well designed and look far better than you'd guess from the cover. All the designs are clearly diagrammed, with explanatory phrases where necessary.

The art of folding paper,
By
This review is from: Favorite Animals in Origami (Paperback)
A great book to use and follow if you like me have tried many times to produce the Eiffel tower or the humpback whale in paper... No seriously those are best left on postcards. For those wishing to develop their skills or enjoy the delights of sharing the simple art of paper folding with their children this book is no disappointment. Easy clear instructions which do and will produce the final effect the wonderful shape from a square piece of paper. This book is for the none to average user of paper folding who wishes to prove they too can produce a thing of beauty from a piece of paper. It opens up the world of Oragmi for all Worth a look at and a buy

Enough of a Challenge and Plenty of Inspiration,
By Sarah Henkel - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Favorite Animals in Origami (Paperback)
I bought this book because I used to make origami llamas years ago and had long forgotten. After an exhaustive search, this was the only book I could find with instructions for a llama. In that respect, I'd say this book met my expectations. Most of the instructions are intermediate and can be constructed in a few minutes. They are challenging enough that you feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment upon finishing an animal. Something that other reviewers may overlook is that this book provides wonderful inspiration for creating your own origami animals. Many animals start out from a base that you could branch off from to create tigers, dolphins, moose, etc. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:

Nothing new at all, which is the only problem.,
By Christopher Reed - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Favorite Animals in Origami (Paperback)
This is by far my LEAST favorite Montroll book. It is basically a collection of animals that he has either previously or since done much better! I own almost all of his books, and I would not recommend this one to any other person that has most of his books. However, the 3 star rating may be unfair, because I am comparing this book to the rest of Montrolls. I think, compared to most other origami animal books, this one would still rank near the top, but not after people discover Montroll's better books (North American Animals, African Animals, etc.)
