Product Description

Product Description

Martin is a businessman of unconventional morals, but when he makes two new acquaintances he is nudged over the line which separates dubious law-abiders from criminals. His two new friends don't conduct themselves like normal criminals and they conceal information from him.

These characters explore the edgy and difficult issues which arise from ethics and the law, and when their project encounters trouble, it is the uncommitted Martin who has to act as enforcer.

Set in the electric and bristling streets of Birmingham, the story features deceit, attraction and excitation; creating a resentful and amoral hero who has a very, very heavy day.

4.0 out of 5 stars For faux sake, what's to criticise? 4 Jan 2014

Good short story.

Excellent value (a freebie from Amazon!).

Nice sense of place, nice feel for the characters and plot worth pursuing to the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars A short gripping tale you can escape into. 29 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Faux certainly held my attention and it was unpredictable - right up to the end. There were some mildly amusing bits, not
sure if this was intended but it added to the story and otherwise I could take it seriously. I am pleased it is left open-ended; a stepping stone for a sequel or two or three! I genuinely liked it; I pictured it all in my mind, right down to the
inside of the porn shop. It is very descriptive, Oliver Cox has displayed a real knack for that ability, and it has a totally original feel to it. I was sorry when I had finished it.
I am not a regular novel reader but as this is a short story it appealed to me and I think I am hooked on Martin's life from now on. I want to request a sequel please!

4.0 out of 5 stars Faux 15 Jun 2012
By Frankie

When first reading the story's description I was quite wary over its plot. Genres such as `Faux' would have never interested me, but despite this I found Cox's short story to be rather enjoyable. The ambiguity in each chapter kept me from putting down my kindle and proceeded to keep me interested in character, Martin's involvement from beginning to end.
I would recommend this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Genuine Article 2 Jun 2012

An excellent read; Oliver Cox's great ability with pace and atmosphere makes for a much more substantial experience than the length would imply. Clearly an author of great talent and potential, I hope to be seeing much more from Cox in the near future, especially if it meets the high standards that he has set with Faux.
