Distinctly German in sound, yet with early Chicago/Detroit elements, this release sees Mr. Flugel release his very first album under his own name.
What we have is mainly stripped rhythms married with emotive electronic atmospherics and melodies. There's nothing new, as what more can you do with the scene? But given he is one of the originators of the whole European scene in the first place, I think we can forgive him this, can't we?
Its certainly better than much techno out there from the newer breed. What Roman does is bring a uniqueness to the form, creating his own modern take and giving all of his compositions a groove, which many of the newer producers lack, unaware as they are of what it is actually like to create electronic music on anything other than a laptop and software!
He knows what to do with the sounds and where to take the listener and if you're into German Techno or more sophisticated dance music with an edge towards the listener also, then this album is worth a whirl.
