1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By DOPPLEGANGER TOP 500 REVIEWER on 9 Sept. 2010
Format: Hardcover
'Humour' in books is usually covered by 3 distinct approaches. Firstly, humorous essays on a single or multiple subject. Secondly, a whole series of hundreds of gags, on a specific subject ie. Irish Jokes and, those that cover many different situations and topics ie. The New York Cab Drivers Book of Jokes. Thirdly, compilations of various renowned 'wits' best efforts.

Humour should make you laugh, giggle, titter, smirk or at the very least provoke an inward snatch of amusement. Some 'essay' genre humour books have given me a modicum of amusement but not consistently throughout and I cannot recall a 'gag' orientated book that has brought the mere suggestion of a guffaw from me.

The last genre ie. 'Wit' compilations have, however, provided me with a feast of real belly laughs consistently throughout and none better more so than "Fathers' Wit" compiled by Rosmarie Jarski, responsible for a number of other similar books. An example, and there are literally hundreds of others is:-

"Don't do that son, it'll make you go blind."
"I'm over here, Dad!"

Highly recommended.
