Amazon.co.uk Review

This set contains the final series of Father Ted, which ended abruptly in 1998 with the death of its talented comic star, Dermot Morgan. The eight episodes here are a little uneven, but the best stuff is classic, laugh-out-loud satire, including "Are You Right There, Father Ted", in which Morgan's titular Catholic priest is re-banished to Ireland's Craggy Island, a green rock replete with paranoid sheep, randy milkmen, Nazi memorabilia collectors and an inexplicably large community of Chinese immigrants. Outstanding, too, is "Speed 3", in which Ted discovers that a number of babies recently born on Craggy all look like a self-made swinger named Pat Mustard. "Kicking Bishop Brennan Up the Arse" speaks for itself, and "The Mainland" gives supporting actor Ardal O'Hanlon (as idiotic fellow cleric Dougal) a great showcase. --Tom Keogh

5.0 out of 5 stars Go On Customer, Go On, Please Have A Cup Of DVD!, 20 Jul 2006
By The Banana Panorama "Cambs" (Cambridgeshire, England) - See all my reviews
Ok, let's get something clear, Father Ted is the ultimate comedy, not a bad episode was ever aired, all the characters are superbly portrayed and each episode has a mental plot which not even the deepest crevice of you brain could muster up! Most of the episodes featured here, in series 3, are some of the best Father Ted episodes anywhere. I mean, who could forget the hilarious Hitler scene in the first episode here, it sticks with you and is something you will not ever forget; or how about when they all go to the mainland and the obnoxious, but always loveable Father Jack has a run in with a non-drinking committee and anyone who watches the program will be aware of his drinking addiction, anyway you cut it, this is pure T.V. gold and a strong contender for best comedy ever. For anyone who hasn't seen this program before I cannot recommend it enough, it is side splittingly funny and series 3 is an excellent place to start! Seriously though, I envy all of you out there who have never seen this show, because unlike you, I will never have the pleasure of viewing any given episode for the first time ever again!

Take Care and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Funniest Show On TV, 4 Feb 2004
By Daniel Warner (Liverpool, England) - See all my reviews
Father Ted is brilliant, its distict sense of humour makes it stand out as one of the greatest comedy's of all time. I love everything about it, the sarcasm the stupidity the constant use of the word "feck."

The DVD consists of 8 episodes, in my view the best of the show by quite some way (especially speed 3) and of course extras showing you the best of Father Ted, Dougal, Mrs. Doyle and Father Jack from all of the 3 series, and of course the eurovision song contest entry "my lovely horse" by Ted and Dougal

Well worth your money

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you right there, Father Ted?, 18 Aug 2003
Hitler moustaches, cycling hamsters, angry chinese people, depressed sheep, out-of-control milkfloats, hairy babies, bishops' arses, zombie grannies and of course, the All Priests Five-a-Side Over Seventy-Fives Indoor Football Challenge match (against Rugged Island). I think that says it all.
