Product Description

CD Description

This is the first album from young Canadian guitar virtuosoEric Mongrain, who is best known for his use of a two-handed lap tapping technique on the acoustic guitar. Even though he's only 21, Mongrain is able to incorporate a wide varietyof influences in the 10 tracks on this record, among them Metallica, Kurt Cobain, and Jimi Hendrix.

About the Artist

Erik Mongrain is an amazingly talented 28 year old acoustic guitarist from Montreal Quebec. He has a unique playing style, reminiscent of such virtuosos as Stanley Jordan, Don Ross and the late Michael Hedges.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 11 Aug 2007
By Spider Monkey (UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
This is an album of pure beauty and amazing guitar technique. Eriks feel on the guitar is out of this world and his compositions are both jaw dropping in his technical ability and the beauty. Géométrie d'Une Erreur is a particular highlight for me, but the whole album is superb. This is HIGHLY recommended. If you like this, check out Les Finnigan who is technically as good, and with some beautiful, haunting music. Find him on indiepool.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, jaw dropping genius!, 15 July 2007
Erik Mongrain is a French Canadian classical guitarist with a unique lap-tapping style of playing. I also noticed this guy on Youtube and was blown away with what amazing guitar skills he has. I have never heard anything quite like it. Check it out for yourself! There is one particular tune he plays called "Air Tap !" and just by listening to it you will be amazed as to what sounds he can produce! It's literally like he is playing a guitar with 6 arms! The explosion of sounds that he creates are mind bogglingly beautiful. Trust me, buy this album, you will not be dissapointed. It is also available on itunes for less than £8! I really do hope he releases more stuff in the not to distant. Thanx for reading!
