Her grandmother recognizes Daire's episodes for what they are - a call to her true destiny as a Soul Seeker, a person who can navigate between the living and the dead. Guided by her grandmother, Daire must be quick to learn how to harness her powers, because Dace's brother is an evil shape-shifter, out to steal them. 5.0 out of 5 stars Devoured it! I want more! 2 May 2012
By Ms. C. A. Anderson VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
If like me, you loved Noels 'The Immortals' series with Damen and Ever then you will LOVE this!

While this new and exciting series is completely different, Alyson's magic is still laced in the pages and her magic in both style and character opens us up to a completely new world.

There is no wasting time, we delve straight into the action and meet Daire and her mother Jennika on location as her mother is a Hollywood make up artist. We are thrust into Daire's view of her late night stroll with the movies' heartthrob Vane where we see a scene through her eyes which leaves both and her and us more than a little spooked. Not sure what is happening is mirrored by Daire and we are lift hanging after it appears that the things she saw are not what everyone else saw and when her gran suddenly calls Jennika and seems to know exactly what is going on with Daire we begin to unravel the mystery of both Daire's past, present and future and also the truth about her family legacy.

A long war has been waged between Daires family who are called Seekers as they see with their heart and that of the El Coyote which is the family in town who are set to destroy, conquer and control everyone and all the other worlds. The dreams that Daire has had about the boys with the piercing blue eyes become more than just a dream and it is not too long before she finds herself drawn to one of them; Dace.

While Daires heart keeps telling her that Dace is kind and genuine, the same can not be said for his brother Cade who has his own evil agenda. The pull of Daire and Dace is as clear as can be but it's not that simple and Daire forces herself not to be involved given his family and her mission and destiny as a Seeker, but it is not long before all that Daires gran; Paloma teaches her is brought to the test in a showdown which see's both good and evil triumph leaving us tantalisingly waiting for more.

I couldn't put it down, I devoured it whole and wanted more! Noel just has that magic with words and characters that make you love every page.

I am genuinely excited for the next book in the series, I had hoped that Noel would bring something else out and believe me it was worth the wait!

The Second Installment in the series - Echo is out September next year and I will have mines pre ordered! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent First Book in the Series 23 Jun 2012
By Luna Shine VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This is the first book by Alyson Noel I have read, and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next book in the series of The Soul Seekers entitled Echo, which is due out in September of this year.

Fated introduces the reader to Daire Santos who spends her life with her mother moving from film set to film set, that is until she spends time with her Grandmother in a place called Enchantment, New Mexico. This is when the magic starts to happen and the book takes on a new and enjoyable read. I couldn't put the book down and read it in a couple of days.

I won't divulge any more information, as other reviewers have been there and done that. So, I will leave you by saying, if you like magic, the supernatural and a fast moving tale, then buy this book. I am really looking forward to The Soul Seekers - 'Echo'

4.0 out of 5 stars A great start 24 May 2012

Format:Paperback
I really enjoyed reading Alyson Noel's Immortals series, some more than others but overall I really liked the series. But I have to say Fated is in a league all of it's own, it is absolutely brilliant. This brand new series has such an interesting, engaging storyline and it is beautifully written and really well thought out. This is definitely a new series to be excited about.

Daire Santos has been travelling most of her life with her mum's job as a Hollywood make-up artist. But recently strange things have started happening, she has been having the strangest dreams about a guy called Dace who she is always drawn to. She is also having strange visions that are unexplainable and downright freaky.

Things take a turn for the worst when Daire attacks people while having a nightmarish vision, she is restrained and packed off to live with her grandmother, who she has never even met before. Her grandmother Paloma claims that Daire isn't going crazy and that she will be able to help her.

So Daire heads to Paloma's house in a little place called Enchantment. When she arrives Paloma explains that Daire isn't having a breakdown or loosing her mind, she needs to embrace her true destiny as a soul seeker like the entire Santos line before her.

Daire can't take her time learning everything there is to know about being a soul seeker as there is dark forces at work, that will try and stop her at every turn. In the form of the evil Cade, Dace's twin brother. Yes, the one and only Dace from her dreams, that just so happens to live in Enchantment. But how do the two brothers fit into Daire's mission as a soul seeker?

I don't want to give too much away but lets just say the ending is brilliant. I cannot wait to see what path Daire and Dace's destiny will lead them down, it really is going to be exciting. Bring on the next book in the series Echo.

I think Dace's character is a little weak at times, he comes across a little flat. I would of loved more personality from him so fingers crossed his character picks up in Echo. I was happy that there was no instant love between the pair and that it took Daire a long time to trust Dace.

If you are looking for a fresh, in-depth, complex, action packed storyline with some amazing new characters, that are both good and evil, then this is the book for you. Fated is definitely a must read.
