I really enjoyed reading Alyson Noel's Immortals series, some more than others but overall I really liked the series. But I have to say Fated is in a league all of it's own, it is absolutely brilliant. This brand new series has such an interesting, engaging storyline and it is beautifully written and really well thought out. This is definitely a new series to be excited about.
Daire Santos has been travelling most of her life with her mum's job as a Hollywood make-up artist. But recently strange things have started happening, she has been having the strangest dreams about a guy called Dace who she is always drawn to. She is also having strange visions that are unexplainable and downright freaky.
Things take a turn for the worst when Daire attacks people while having a nightmarish vision, she is restrained and packed off to live with her grandmother, who she has never even met before. Her grandmother Paloma claims that Daire isn't going crazy and that she will be able to help her.
So Daire heads to Paloma's house in a little place called Enchantment. When she arrives Paloma explains that Daire isn't having a breakdown or loosing her mind, she needs to embrace her true destiny as a soul seeker like the entire Santos line before her.
Daire can't take her time learning everything there is to know about being a soul seeker as there is dark forces at work, that will try and stop her at every turn. In the form of the evil Cade, Dace's twin brother. Yes, the one and only Dace from her dreams, that just so happens to live in Enchantment. But how do the two brothers fit into Daire's mission as a soul seeker?
I don't want to give too much away but lets just say the ending is brilliant. I cannot wait to see what path Daire and Dace's destiny will lead them down, it really is going to be exciting. Bring on the next book in the series Echo.
I think Dace's character is a little weak at times, he comes across a little flat. I would of loved more personality from him so fingers crossed his character picks up in Echo. I was happy that there was no instant love between the pair and that it took Daire a long time to trust Dace.
If you are looking for a fresh, in-depth, complex, action packed storyline with some amazing new characters, that are both good and evil, then this is the book for you. Fated is definitely a must read.
