More About the Author

Sarah is the author of Hunting Lila (winner of the Kingston Book Award), Losing Lila, Fated, The Sound, Out of Control and Conspiracy Girl (all Simon & Schuster).

Having spent most of her life in London, Sarah quit her job in the non profit sector in 2009 and took off on a round the world trip with her husband and daughter on a mission to find a new place to call home (a journey that was documented on the blog Can We Live here and which is shortly to be turned into a book).

After almost a year spent travelling the world, they settled in Bali where they lived for five beautiful years before the vagabonding urge became too great and they decided to embark on Can We Live Here part two. They are currently located somewhere between India, London, Canada and the US.

As well as writing young adult novels and screenplays, Sarah also writes adult fiction for Pan Macmillan (Simon & Schuster in the US) under the name Mila Gray.

Her first adult novel, Come Back To Me, was published in June 2014. The second, This One Moment, will be out in August 2015.

Sarah has co-written the Hunting Lila screenplay, which is currently in the early stages of production, and continues to blog about her life and travels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action packed and extremely thrilling! 20 Feb. 2012
By Sam
When I saw Fated I was immediately curious. There has been many great things said about Sarah Alderson and I wanted to read one of her books to see what everyone loves about her. As soon as I read the first chapter of Fated, I couldn't put it down. The book just got better and better. There was action, boy problems, forbidden romances, strong characters and a great plot. Sarah dragged me into her world of paranormal creatures and locked me there.

Evie, the main character, was full of determination and blossoming beauty. She refused to fall in love with the boy who was living in her spare bedroom, and, damn, that takes a lot self-control since that boy is the most gorgeous boy she's ever seen. Lucas *Girls start screaming and grannies start fainting* was one of my favourite characters. Why? You all ask. It's because he is irreversibly hot with a smile that will knock you off your feet. He has secrets and emotions that he keeps locked up inside of him, but can Evie set them free? Of course she can! Blue eyes and dark brown hair. Lucky girl, many women would kill for that kind of that combonation. I loved the chemistry between the two, sure, it was tense at times but I could see that something beautiful was forming!

We even see a Twilight joke!
"Are you trying to tell me that was Edward Cullen outside? Because you know, I thought he was supposed to be hotter than that. And a whole lot more romantic."

Fated was a brilliant read which made my heart pound against my ribs. It was full of great scenes, they were all described really well, I had a really clear picture of the action in my head. I recommend this book to everyone who loves a paranormal read before they go to bed.

3.0 out of 5 stars A thriller that is easy and quick to read! 14 Aug. 2014
By M
Format:Kindle Edition
A thriller that is easy and quick to read, pulling you into a small town where not everyone is who they seem. I really like the cover of Fated, it is mysterious however I am confused as to how it links in with the storyline as my initial thought for the genre was espionage.

Lucas Gray is an Assassin and has been sent to kill Evie Tremain. Evie Tremain has only just learnt of her family's past and is only starting to be trained to fight. But what neither of them expect, is falling in love will be the most dangerous thing they can do.

Evie is a protagonist who is easy to read about, she is strong and will always try to protect herself and her mother, alongside the fact that she will not give in easily. However, she does seem to be driven more by other peoples decisions for her, and she was a little laid back; I would be furious if SOMEONE CUT PART OF MY EAR OFF ON PURPOSE! But she just seemed to be like "okay, whatever"...I just! I don't know!

The relationship of both Lucas and Evie felt very 'insta-love' on both sides, as we where able to see the events happening from both POV's. There relationship as many have said is very cute and adorable however, it felt extremely false.

The plot of this novel was okay, it does engage you alongside learning about the history and the variety of 'Unhumans' though I felt it just needed something more as the pace of the novel felt rather slow. What I must applaud is the danger and action in this novel as it was mostly continuous, someone was always fighting or practicing and Alderson's description really allows the reader to visualise the scenes.

This novel was interesting and full of action however, the pace of the novel was rather slow and sadly I do not see how the novel can be taken further.

4.0 out of 5 stars Something new in the paranormal genre 9 May 2013
By Rashika
This was Sarah's second book and I can see the different between the Hunting Lila and Fated. I wouldn't say that it was that she got better as a writer (she was already awesome in my book), but that I liked Evie's character a lot better. I always admired Lila but sometimes the whole Alex thing got on my nerves in the first book (although the second book was a bottle of awesome, no doubt). In this book you can see that Evie is a very independent character. She isn't used to depending on people after all the things that happened to her recently. She was betrayed by her best friend and boyfriend, her father died and her best friend died. This all happened in a short span of time so it changed her as a person. She became more closed off. She has always wanted to get out of town but now she wants it more than anything else. She cannot stand the stares. So she works extra hard at the restaurant (owned by a family friend) to earn money. It is during one of these shifts she has to fight off these weird creatures she didn't know existed and it is there she meets Victor and learns that she is a hunter.

On the other hand we have Lucas, *swoons*, one of my favorite love interests, who is a half human and half shadow warrior. I don't think I can get enough of this guy (I love you too Alex (the one from Hunting Lila) but let's keep this about Lucas shall we?). He has this very serious demeanor about him. I wouldn't call him a brooding bad boy or anything along those lines because he isn't that. He is a responsible person who has been through a lot. He saw his mother die when he was a kid, his father died recently and became the only shadow warrior to be killed at the hands of a hunter, he wants revenge.
