3.0 out of 5 stars The first night 21 April 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
While I do enjoy the anime version of `Fate/stay night' I am not as sure about this manga adaptation. The series sees the high school student Shirou Emiya as he is drawn into the magical conflict of the Holy Grail Wars. Alongside his summoned servant Saber he must fight against six other masters and servants to win the Holy Grail and have his wishes granted.

I had read that the manga version of the `Fate/stay night' story is not as good as either the anime or the original video game and from this first volume I would have to agree. While the story is still interesting the pacing of the plot of this first volume is quite poor with quite a rushed felling to it. The artwork is okay but some of the action scenes could have been better. The main positive of this first volume is that it does have some nice info on how the servant classes work but other than that it was a bit of a disappointment. Overall I will give it three stars and hope that the series improves as it goes along.

5.0 out of 5 stars New to Fate Stay Night 16 Sep 2010

Fate Stay Night vol. 1 was my first foray into the Fate Stay Night universe, so I can't really compare it to the anime, however, that being said, Fate Stay Night is an excellent stand-alone manga. I went into reading this knowing nothing about the story or the Fate Stay Night universe, but never once was I left wondering if I was missing some info or whatnot. Dat Nishiwaki does an excellent job introducing the characters and the story, for those new to the series. This is an excellent start to what looks like will be one of my favorite manga's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fate/Stay Night vol. 1 8 May 2010
By ...... - Published on
I've been a fan of the Fate/Stay Night series ever since I first checked out how the series started, which was an adult visual novel (18+ due to sexual content). And I didn't really like the anime that much because of how it pretty much just combines the different stories from the visual novel. I didn't really like Unlimited Codes, but then again I'm not a big fan of fighting games. When I heard about this manga coming out, I was a bit hesitant to buy it, which was surprising considering how much of a Saber fanboy I am...

I decided to finally go out and buy it, and it didn't turn out to be as bad as I thought it would be. It's pretty much the first few episodes of the anime (or the first few "days" in the visual novel), and it stays quite accurate, the only difference is that it's condensed, which is something I liked about this manga. I'm not going to discuss the story in this review, just to help prevent spoiling it.

As a Saber fanboy (well, a Rin fanboy too...) who's been following the series for a while, I was happy with how this turned out.

If you're already familiar with the story of Fate/Stay Night, then there isn't anything new here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Liking this far 10 Mar 2013

I m new to this Japanesse animation, hell I haven't even got the chance to watch the series on dvd, but the first book seems promising, I do have some problems getting use to read staring from the back part of the book... but i guess I will get use to it... eventually.
The plot it seems rather weak to me (a rather unfair taking, given that I got only till the first book) but the drawing is very cool.
