Figma PVC Saber Action Figure - Fate/Stay Night 4 Aug 2009

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
The Figma PVC Saber action figure is spectacular. The detail easily rivals the more expensive PVC statue counterparts. The joints for the most part are well hidden, the elbows, meh, not so much but everything else is very well molded. The detail is extraordinary, and the fact that shes extremely poseable (is that a word..?) makes her a clear win over her unmovable statue sisters.

However...

She is very small. I mean Tiny, all her pictures make her seem a bit bigger, but shes actually quite tiny. About the size of a can of pepsi (height wise) However, trading some size for detail is a really good trade. Compared to her Revoltech counterpart shes about an inch smaller, but shes much prettier. she's incredibly anime accurate, and comes with a lot of accessories. A total of 8 hands, 2 swords and sheaths, 2 hair options, 3 faces, and a stand make for an almost unlimited number of poses.

She is a bit delicate, and isn't meant for children. A child would easily break this figure in a few minutes of rough play. Her joints are tight enough to hold just about any pose, but if you force them too hard they might get loose, I haven't had any problems though. her clothes are made with soft pvc and rubber i believe, and even has clothes under her armor.

There are hinges in her dress, so you can open and close parts of the dress in order to give the illusion its one big complete dress even when doing extreme poses.

Unlike her Revoltech incarnation her dress joints on the Figma are in the back instead of the sides, and make for a better look as well as functionality.

Over all this figure is clear win over her other action figure counterparts, and once again, Max Factory has outdone itself with an outstanding figure that is so close to her anime and game counterpart.

Speaking of the game, I recommend the PC version of Fate/Stay Night. but remember, the game was an ADULT visual novel, but there is version that has no erotic scenes etc Called Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua.

(I haven't played the Realta Nua Version, but i hear its the same as the original but with voice acting and no sex, sounds like the better deal for everyone as the sex scenes where a bit...out of place.)

The game has a lot more character depth than the weak anime that eventually followed the series. So if you love the anime series, please check out the game.

Saber is my boyfriend's ABSOLUTE favorite anime/TV/movie character of all time. I was scared I wouldn't save up enough money for this before Christmas. But I finally got my paycheck and bought it for him. I'd been trying to keep it a secret (a PAINFUL experience) for two months until he finally opened it on Christmas morning.

He was in shock for a few seconds and I don't blame him. As expected of Japanese craftsmanship, it was FLAWLESS, and I mean FLAWLESS. The paint job, the detailing, her facial expressions. It was pure perfection in a box. She was small, but I could NOT believe the amount of attention to detail. He took each piece out like it was made of glass. He took half a hundred pictures in the different poses and holding each sword.

I think I've got this boy for life ^-^

SUMMARY:

Pro's: EVERYTHING

Con's: Her arm joints are Very Delicate. My boyfriend keeps her in her box unless he wants to take her out to show to people. That is the care I would recommend. That or find a nice display case for her :)
Love the character, even if I do not like the anime. 25 Feb 2010

Saber is an oddity for me. Ever since I saw her character design I have loved it. I even bought some of the anime DVD's due solely to her being on it. I watched it and it was ok. In fact the first time you see her I loved it. Sadly the action drops off too fast for my taste and it never really recovered.

But onto the product's review.

The price is steep. It's one of those necessary evil's but I can easily see it deterring potential buyers.

Likeness however is superb. This is near perfect.

Her accessories and display stand are also quite impressive. The only figure I have that I can put into a real action pose dual wielding both of her blades.

Durability. It's pretty good.Overall she is built well enough to withstand most play if one was inclined to do so. The single factor driving her down would be the joint's for her wrists. The hand's are interchangeable and she is not packaged with the ones needed for holding the blades. The problem is the wrist post is exceptionally thin and I can see it easily breaking if the hands were changed out repeatedly. So your best bet is to pick which ones you want on her and stick with them afterwards.
