Book Description

A NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY Bestselling book.

Dean Jacobs is one of Milwaukee’s hottest eligible bachelors and in no mood to settle down, until she comes along. Evy, however, is focused on opening a new dessert lounge with her sister but Dean won’t take no for an answer. She finally gives in to the want in her gut and - much to her surprise – discovers he isn’t the player she thought he was. Just when things turn into a fairytale sent from above, Dean’s past comes back to haunt him. The only question is: will it make them stronger, or rip them apart?

    4.0 out of 5 stars Fun ♥ hot ♥ totally romantic ♥ then WHAM!! 4 Mar. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have mixed emotions in truth about this book, I absolutely loved, loved, loved certain bits about it. I mean come on I spat my coffee everywhere when the Smurf's got mentioned, that was so bloody hilarious! I loved the connection between Dean and Evy, but this is one part where I get the mixed emotions. I lost a smidgeon of interest at the point where his past comes back to haunt him and I thought 'oh boy this is so cliche' and the buzz of the book had dissapated a bit. But then it turned up the heat again a little while later at the trap being laid and what he was caught up in and how they were going to cope and overcome it.

The one thing I really HATED about this book is the use of the word 'cum' for a such a good story the use of this word seemed to demean the story to porno mag lingo and ere towards sleeze rather than an excellent contemporary romance that it could attain to be. There are some extremely hot, steamy erotic romance books and trilogies out there at the moment and most of them have kept it upmarket and not used slang, I so wished that Kaitlyn hadn't used it.

Saying that though this book is indeed hot and sexy, I don't know about the first sex scene though, I thought a paper bag was needed and laughed hard when the ski mask was mentioned.

So sadly I have knocked a star off the slang, but it certainly won't detract me from reading book 2, I am really looking forward to hitting that next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping story, and so glad it's only one of two. 27 Feb. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a great story that was surprisingly so funny - so many lol moments combined in with an emotional tale with really likeable characters - BEN is the funniest character I think I have ever read, I will read it again just for his lines.

The main story centres around Dean and Evy, Dean is an eligible playboy bachelor and Evy is nursing a broken heart whilst setting up a dessert lounge with her sister. Dean does not do well at their first and second meeting although the attraction has started to flare between them.

This couple begin to find something really beautiful and then Dean's past comes back to haunt them both in a truly heartbreaking's not over yet so roll on book 2.

A great page-turner, could be full of angst but the funny parts literally had me weeping more than the sad ones. Loved it.

I couldn't believe it! From laughing so hard to almost a quarter of the book, to a hot sweet romance then wham! hits you like a tornado! it changed pace dramatically,am afraid for everyone who has a connection to Dean lest they meet a misfortune, afraid for Evy, the woman he loves, and her family. One moment everything was lighthearted and funny next he's caught in a crossfire that had Dean scrambling to find a way to get out of...then to being threatened and browbeaten if he doesn't propose to the girl of his nightmare Megan...then the tense and desperate phone call of Evy to Dean...the cliffhanger will make you hold your breath!! PLEASE release the next book! now! Have pity on us! especially the other reviewer who may not have enough hair left on her head from being caught in this intensifying saga! while the rest of us in pins and needles! Thank you Ms.Cross for a great debut novel, you're awesome! Well Done!! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read 24 Feb. 2013
    By Katie
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A well written book which started off a bit slow but it was building round the characters. I would have like to see more of the bad side of Megan - she turned into a bit of a goody two shoes which weakened her.
Dean was also weakened by his lack of action after the attack. I felt that as a lawyer he should have had more contacts and known how to deal with the situation.
Story took a suspenseful turn and remained that way till the very end. I see the old upstairs neighbour being involved and maybe even Megan's mum.
Look forward to part 2 but wish that the "fashion" for serial books would disappear soon and we could enjoy a complete story in one book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Read it..... 21 Feb. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
At first I didn't know wether I liked this book or not!! I normally know instantly if I'm hooked or not but I couldn't quite figure this one out!! I loved the interaction between Evy and her sister and brother in law, and I loved the interaction between Dean and his mates! They both made me laugh out loud, But I couldn't quite get the way the 2main characters related to each other! I don't know why? It wasn't a bad thing! But by the end of the book I really enjoyed it! The story line is really bloody brilliant! I'm really looking forward to seeing how its all going to pan out and for the measly price I payed for it! I would definitely recommend it! Roll on book 2.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping 17 Mar. 2013
    By Sonia
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have to say it had me gripped from the off, your willing him to have some balls and tell the wannabe mayor to get lost but the chance he would ruin all their lives if he didn't do as he said was a risk to big to take, all because of one mistake, that quite frankly could happen to anyone, you feel sorry for him but you can't help thinking if only you had been a bit more picky about who he slept with, the girl was crazy and her father even more crazy, can't wait to read the second book to see how he's gonna get himself outta this one, I just want him to get the girls father set him up and wreck his career, crikey he may not even be the father.
