Is Fatal move a fatal viewing?
What is it about? Why isnt Sammo pictured on the cover(or even mentioned!) obviously someone feels, you need someone young and trendy on the cover to sell it,but when you are as beloved as Sammo is in the the martial arts movie world, you dont.Anyway this film I really enjoyed.
Its not hard to follow,it has some great action and gory violence and isnt over the top(i.e no one flies)and I was never bored at all.

I quickly lost interest in this film. There was very little in the way of action and martial arts (although what there was was good) and the story was convoluted and hard to follow.

I switched of mentally about half way through... It just didn't float my boat. I have absolutely no idea what the story was about as it seemed to have no real direction.

I'm not going to waste any more time by reviewing this film further. I wasted enough time just watching and there's not much more I can add anyway - other than a lot of arms get chopped off. A boring film overall.

What is it about?
Sammo Hung plays Triad boss, Lung. His grip over the Hong Kong criminal empire is beset by betrayals. With troubled brother Tung (Simon Yam) and his lethal hit man, Tin Hung (Wu Jing), Sammo must mercilessly ferret out his enemies while avoiding the hawkish attentions of senior inspector, Danny Lee.

On the surface, you have Wu Jing, Sammo Hung, Simon Yam from "Kill zone". Then you throw in Danny Lee from "The Killer" and on paper, this film has the makings of a intriguing, Hong Kong triad action movie. But without Donnie Yen and Wilson Yip, did it deliver?

Fatal flaws.
Story
They included dialogues and scenes that were better cut off. It has the usual triad trappings and I felt did not seem to add anything new to the genre.
Characters
There were not enough compelling scripts, motives and direction for people to stand out. It relies much on screen presence from big name stars to sell this candy to the audience.
Rewatch value
At 2hrs, it could be a chore for some. Those with realistic expectations will tolerate this sitting once; on a rental perhaps? The only rewatch value would be for the fatal viewings.

Fatal viewings.
Action
I shan't spoil this; there was at least one fight scene that was the highlight of the film that made this movie Fatal viewing.
Cast
If they did not assemble that many big name stars to shoulder this movie, general public may not have given this a look.
Fans
I must strongly point out that those who are interested in HK action, triads, or any of the big name stars would find Fatal move acceptable viewing.

Summary
A miss hit. As a fan of HK films, I can't help wondering about two conflicting things.
1) With that many huge actors, it could have been better.
2) Having big names does not necessarily mean you end up with a blockbuster.
In the end, what we have is a hard boiled, triad picture that only shines by main leads.

Other superior works to explore
Sammo Hung (Dragons Forever, Eastern Condors, Odd Couple)
Simon Yam (Kill zone, Bullet in the head, Election)
Wu Jing (Fatal Contact, Legendary Assassin, Invisible Target)
Danny Lee (The Killer, City on fire, Final Justice)
