Product Description

U.S. Marshal Jake Taylor has seen plenty of action during his years in law enforcement. But he'd rather go back to Iraq than face his next assignment: protection detail for federal judge Liz Michaels. His feelings toward Liz haven't warmed in the five years since she lost her husband--and Jake's best friend--to possible suicide. How can Jake be expected to care for the coldhearted workaholic who drove his friend to despair?

As the danger mounts and Jake gets to know Liz better, his feelings slowly start to change. When it becomes clear that an unknown enemy may want her dead, the stakes are raised. Because now both her life--and his heart--are in mortal danger.

Full of the suspense and romance Irene Hannon's fans have come to love, Fatal Judgment is a thrilling story that will keep readers turning the pages late into the night.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not earth shattering, but very enjoyable. 21 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Irene Hannon is certainly one of the better Christian-romance-suspense writers out there, alongside Dee Henderson. Her characters are engaging and enjoyable, and while she does tend towards a certain homogeneity in her plotting and her heroes, she also makes some good points about faith and life along the way. I also enjoy that she brings in characters from previous series in supporting roles - it's fun to spot characters from "Heroes of Quantico" popping up.

Unlike Henderson, Hannon doesn't have endless irritating typo/grammar errors which detract from the stories and characters. I really enjoy Henderson's characters and storytelling, but it's a shame the proofreading is a huge letdown at times.

Nothing earth shatteringly original here, but an enjoyable, somewhat suspenseful tale with a few interesting twists and turns along the way. If you enjoy Dee Henderson, Lynette Eason and their ilk, and reading suspense and romance with a religious theme, then you will probably find yourself becoming a fan of Irene Hannon, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fatal Judgement 18 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A very entertaining book. I really enjoyed the fast moving pace. There was good technical detail, love interest and excitement all without swearing and overtly sexual tones. It kept me rooted and hard to put down. Shall definitely be reading more of this series and this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 27 Feb 2013

Dee Henderson meets Karen Kingsbury. An excellent, fast paced thriller with a bit of romance thrown in. Difficult to put down to the detriment of anything else you might want to accomplish that day!

4.0 out of 5 stars I read book 2 first in paper back! 19 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was a little annoyed that the story line was effectively the same, just different names and different occupations, but most other things the same. A little macabre at times but I still liked it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lacking fizz 20 April 2012
By Antony
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a run-of-the-mill story with no surprises. The writing flows along well enough, but not a lot is said and none of it fresh. The hero, Jake, has `chiseled features' and a `clean-shaven jaw.' She `nestled against a broad, solid chest'. This is not essentially bad but when the same kind of formulaic description and incident occurs on every page it is hard to stay the course. The discovery of the villain's identity felt very contrived and the ending drags on far too long once the action is over.
There is no question Irene Hannon can write but you get the feeling she can do (or has done) far better.

“My faith has allowed me to accept that suffering is part of the human experience, Jake. Even Jesus suffered, far more than we ever will. I believe God allows suffering not to punish us but to bring about greater good. If I help someone who is hurting, they may see God’s love in my support—and I may learn to see Jesus in them.” "e;

It’s easy to believe while life is rolling merrily along. But in times of trial, it’s tempting to turn away from God. Yet that’s when we need him the most.” "e;

“Bad things happen because human nature is flawed and we have free will.” “What about natural disasters? Why doesn’t he stop those from happening?” “I don’t know the answer to that. But I trust he does. A key component of faith is accepting without understanding.” "e;
