I got this book as a gift and it is a great little guide to foods that are good for you. The book is like a dictionary of healthy food and it starts with apples and explains to you what about an apple makes it healthy and why it may promote weight loss based on the chemical components in the apple. It does this same thing for the rest of the food in the guide so while the title of the book might better be "An A-Z Guide to Foods that Enable You to Lose Weight", I must admit that the title chosen is far more 'catchy' and less of a mouthful! I work with kids and I try to teach them about healthy eating. Of late, I have been trying to bring samples to school of food that I would like them to learn about. I show them the benefits of the various fruits and vegetables and encourage them to try different foods. Surprisingly, the kids have absolutely loved this exercise and I have had parents tell me that their child was never interested in some vegetable on another until after we had studied it in school. I have been thinking of using this book as a supplement to this exercise as I think the kids would enjoy reading more about the foods that they are eating.
