Former Motorhead guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke and ex-UFO's bassist Pete Way decided to put together a band that would play a very hard, straight-ahead kind of rock. The outcome couldn't have been better. The pair stroke gold in finding a young, totally unknown Irish vocalist named David King and also with steady drummer Jerry Shirley, formerly of Humble Pie, to complete the bill.
The sound is a heavy, raw Led Zeppelin brand of rock, very much so due to King's highly reminiscent vocals to that of Robert Plant, but also because of the ferocity of the guitar riffs, thunderous bass and flaming drums. This eponymous album does not credit bass maestro Pete Way because at the time of its release he had jumped to Ozzy's train instead (much for Eddie's disdain)... although that stint with the Ozz lasted almost nothing. Nevertheless, on a radio interview back in 1983, I listened to "Fast" Eddie himself say that Way, in fact, had recorded those awesome bass lines.
I still can't understand why this album never got the huge recognition it deserved, but Fastway's debut (and follow-up) are an absolute MUST for any hard rock music lover, or any rock fan altogehter. Buy this classic now!

A vastly underated and mostly overlooked album from 1983,the brain child of Motorheads's 'FAST'Eddie Clarke and UFO'S Pete WAY hence the name with Humble Pie's Jerry Shirley on drums and unknown Robert Plant soundalike Dave King on vocals,sadly Pete Way jumped ship before the albums release and its never to my knowledge been confirmed officially who played Bass on the record.
Despite the basic no frills production by Eddie Kramer this is a damn fine album,superior in every way compared to Motorhead's 'Another Perfect Day'
The opening one two of 'Easy Livin' & 'Feel Me Touch Me...' immediately set the tone classic heavy rock before 'All I Need Is Your Love' gives the first hint of Zeppelin.The rest of the disc veers from superb heavy rock to the occasional Motorhead flourish,without doubt the standout track on the disc is 'Heft' its a son of Zeppelin if ever you heard one(the sort of thing Kingdom Come would be slated for in years to come) and it quite frankly it leaves the rest of the album in the shade.
The cd bonus track is a fantastic (zeppelin inspired again) 'Far Far From Home' a stunning little groove which frankly should not have been left off the original vinyl.
This is a really excellent debut from Fastway and should have propelled them onwards and upwards,vocalist Dave King was a star in the making,sadly a few more average albums would be made before disappearing from sight,making this another case of what might have been,try it ,you'll love it.

Originally unleashed to an unexpected world in 1983, this was the band's first album. Fastway is one of my all-time favorites of the '80's that never got their just due. Fastway was made up of three metal / hard rock veterans - former Motorhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke, Humble Pie's drummer Jerry Shirley, UFO bassist Pete Way - rounded out with vocalist Dave King. Every cut here totally rules - like the scorching opener "Easy Livin'", "All I Need Is Your Love", "We Become One" (used to look forward to catching this video on Mtv, when it was still good), "Say What You Will" and "You Got Me Running". An absolute must-have for all '80's metal fans. Bet yet, a UK label - Beat Goes On has also reissued this debut CD as a two-on-one including 'All Fired Up' tagged on. I mean, how cool is that? Talk about your worthy releases.
