I've never done a review before, but I simply had to rate this one! I've bought 3 bass books a month ago, and the other two weren't satisfying at all, but Fast Track is great!!! I've worked thru half the book in 1 month, practising an hour a day. My fingers are much stronger now and it's so much fun, because it's not about boring theory and endless scale-practice. The riffs and songs are accompanied on CD, you feel like playing in a band already ! Thumbs up for this book ! Hope I'll be playing like Steve Harris, soon !

This book is perfect for anyone beginning to learn bass. It builds up your ability over 71 exercises, never leaving you with a huge leap in difficulty to overcome. The learning curve is absolutly perfect so you are never stuck on the same exercise for long. The CD that comes with it really helps with all the exercises and includes 3 full length songs at the end to play. The icing on the cake is that when you finish this book you're not left wondering - what now? A follow up book is available that picks up where this one left off.

All in all an absolutly essential book for anyone starting out with a bass. AND LOOK AT THE PRICE!!!!!!! You can't go wrong.

This book has proved necessary to me because of its escalating in difficulty and fun grooves. But comparing to other books like Bass guitar for Dummies, it leaves a very big knowledge gap in the process.

If you wish to learn how to play the bass, but also how to improvise, how to practice those fingers, and what people mean when they say A#, I suggest you ALSO buy "Bass guitar for Dummies".

PROS
Portable, Full of music, fun to learn with, good learning curve, CD included

CONS
No finger exercises. Narrow in content and unformed.

This is an amazing little book serving the purpose of a secondary learning guide. I recommend it to anyone on the first stages of learning the bass.
