1.0 out of 5 stars Riddled with errors 18 May 2013
By Marilee - Published on Amazon.com

This book is so riddled with errors in the writing, syntax, formatting, punctuation, grammar, editing and spelling that it's almost impossible to read! When there are that many errors, I for one cannot trust the information given will be accurate nor the recipes well edited and tested for accuracy.

I don't understand how 8 reviewers [as of the time I write this] can give this book 5 stars for excellence.

At least I downloaded it for free, so the only thing I've lost is my precious time.

3.0 out of 5 stars English as a Second language 17 May 2013
By Jamie L - Published on Amazon.com

The recipes featured in this book look tasty, and there is a variety. The reason I gave this three stars though is because it's written by someone who has no business writing a book, which is probably why it's an e-book. The style is stilted and cliche. Even worse, there are misspelled words and some incorrect grammar. Whenever I see spelling and grammatical errors in a work I instantly question the validity of the information.

1.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe anyone could rate this 5 stars... 23 May 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

This book was a complete waste of time: there was not even one single recipe or method for cooking a basic batch of quinoa, which really rendered the book useless. (The first cooking instruction given called for a ratio of 1 cup quinoa to 2 cups liquid, the second one was a 1 to 3 ratio, while the third was a 1 to 1 ratio. The rest of the book simply called for "cooked" quinoa...)

The author's spelling, grammar, and basic writing skills were all pathetic, which made it extremely difficult to read, and it was clear that she had not even bothered to run a simple spell check :-(

There were also NO facts about nutritional values, or even an accurate description of what quinoa is, just a lot of "rambling" paragraphs about health benefits, which made it clear that very little, if any, research was even done by the author.

I did look through all of the recipes, and while many had some tasty ingredient combinations, given the lack of a reliable recipe to make a basic batch of quinoa AND the vast number of typos, it was impossible to trust ANY of them. IMHO, this doesn't even deserve 1 star...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great collection of recipes! 15 May 2013

It was just recently that I decided to give quinoa a try. It's pronounced KEEN-wah, not quin-OH-a like it looks, so now you will be saved the embarrassment that I felt when the pimply faced counter jockey at Whole Foods gave me an eye roll and a correction. After that eye roll I didn't bother to ask how to prepare the stuff, preferring to keep my additional ignorance to myself. Fortunately I found this book pop up a few days ago, and what a great find! More than just another collection of recipes, this book gives you information on just what quinoa is, various facts you may not know (like how to pronounce it, duh), and the wonderful health benefits associated with eating quinoa. There's a lot of variety in the recipes, all of which are easy to follow even for the kitchen klutzes among us. There's also recipes for those with special dietary needs, like energy bars and vegan pancakes. Very glad I came across this!
1.0 out of 5 stars too long winded! 28 Jan 2014

The author repeats the same thing over and over again...... Drags on, and on! I more then likely "skipped" important information to get passed the longevity!! And then you finally reach the recipes..... Same thing- just too wordy!!!
