Let me preface my remarks by saying I thoroughly enjoy this book, and appreciate how well it is laid out, including the photography and step-by-step instructions. However, that said, I purchased it in spite of its title. I enjoy a project that takes a bit of time; in fact, that's the pleasure of handcrafting. So while I would say these cards are "fun," I think the word "fast" in the title is misleading. Case in point, the author herself points out in the description for one of the cards that "quilling is quite time-consuming" so the maker will need to "put aside plenty of time" for that particular card.
To be fair, I recently reviewed another similar card crafting book, and had the same pet peeve about its subtitle. I'm beginning to see a pattern with how craft books are being marketed these days. (Just do a search on `fast & fun' or `quick & easy' on Amazon and you'll see what I mean!) To me an example of a "fast" card would be rubber stamping and image and layering a couple of pieces of cardstock to frame it, without any additional embellishment. Again, I'm glad the projects in this book aren't like that, but I would prefer that the publishing industry (i.e. editors) not try to mass market everything as "quick and easy." Thank goodness most of us have learned not to judge a book by its cover, or, particularly these days, its title! If you have some time, than I recommend this book; the projects ARE "fun."
