I have been doing the regular Fast Diet/5:2 diet for around 12 months and have slowly but surely lost around 20lbs. After a little bit of a plateau and a holiday gain I followed much of the advice in this book and lost 11.5lbs in 12 weeks. I chose to wait until the end of my 6 week plan to do this review so I could post my result and comment on my ability to stick to it. It does demand a bit more effort and strictness than some might prefer from 5:2 but there is really great advice and if you really want results it is worth a read. That said it is very much a pick and mix approach so you choose to follow what advice you think is best for you. I see this as a stricter plan that I will try to do across different parts of the year but recognise that probably hard to maintain week in and week out until I get to my goal weight.
Although I know a lot about the fast diet I still found it really useful as both a refresher and for new inspiration. I already actually do 3 fasts almost every week but there is lots more tips and ideas about ways to tighten up on non fast days that I found successful. Also good information about he variety of fasting windows that can be adopted.
I haven't really incorporated the fast exercise techniques so far so can't really comment on these. First couple of attempts were hard going and I was already in the middle of a running plan so opted to stick with that...............which I didn't entirely!

Thankfully The Fast Beach Diet has shown me how grossly misinformed I was and provided me with tools and information that I believe will finally help me get a handle on my weight. Already the pounds are dropping and I am keen to continue.
The Fast Beach Diet is an extension of the original text and is focused on seeing faster weight loss in a shorter time than The Fast Diet. Therefore this is a stricter form of the diet but my personality thrived on it. Written in a clear, concise manner, I quickly grasped the concept of IF and never felt I was lacking for not having read the first book. I liked the alternate chapters and perspectives of Mimi and Michael and felt I gained a more thorough picture of the diet rather than simply the information being presented in a lecture. I've since purchased the original Fast Diet to follow throughout the winter months when I don't want to follow such a strict approach and to enhance my collection of recipes.
Full of tips, tricks and motivation, this books has proved invaluable and has taught me that dieting doesn't have to be a chore!
P.S. To stop myself overindulging on non fast days I'm following a healthy eating plan, one of my favourite books I'm using is called Superfruit Smoothies: 50 Healthy Smoothie Recipes for Weight Loss, Energy & Optimum Health, it's packed full of nutritious recipes under 500 calories.
