A very interesting work on the history of the vanity, it really fills the gap in my girlfriend's curiosity.
I can only find one disappointing aspect: it is too encyclopedic though it deals with make-up. I would like it to have a wider visual aspect (face charts, visual curiosities, more images of artifacts and ancient objects), despite the fact that it is very well-written.

On the above review this sounded like the perfect gift for somebody starting a make up course at college. However, although I don't doubt the reference value of the book , the style is overly academic, with no colour illustrations.
Glamourous it ain't.

Fashions in makeup from ancient to modern times was bought for my Grandaughter who is interested in becoming a make up artist.
She is delighted with the wide scope that the book offers and is interested in all relevant publications
