Amazon Review

Farscape: The Illustrated Companion Volume 2 is the second guide to the hit SF TV show, about an astronaut shot through a wormhole in space and onto a living ship with a strange alien crew. This volume covers the entire second season with a helpful recap of season one's cliffhanger ending to remind viewers where they left off.

Each episode is covered with quotes from the actors, writers, directors and production crew to accompany the synopses. There are interviews with all the stars and creative minds behind the show, features on the special effects and wonderful puppets and the various alien creatures, a detailed history of all the main characters and a glossary of some of the particularly tricky terms and phrases used in the show. Now you can wow all your friends with some impressive-sounding techno-speak. It's a slim companion and although totally official, the black and white interior does give it the feel of a lacklustre unauthorised guide. However it is well written and up to date and no self-respecting Farscape fan should be seen without it. --Jonathan Weir

3.0 out of 5 stars Good guide to season two but could be better. 26 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Farscape is a hugely popular series that follows the adventures of John Crichton, and astronaut who is transported to the other side of the galaxy while trying out his experimental craft. He finds himself on a living ship populated by a variety of strange alien creatures. There is Pilot who is bonded to the ship and looks after the crew, D'Argo a Luxan warrior, Zhaan a Delvian preistess and Rygel a Hynerian Dominar. They are convicts trying to escape from Peace Keepers, a sadistic and violent police like race who rule this segment of space. They are Sebacions - a race very similar to humans. One of the Peace Keepers , Aeryn, joins the crew after she is deemed irreversibly contaminated by contact with Crichton and sentenced to death. The ship is being persued by Crais - a militray commander who deems Crichton responsible for his brothers death. Scorpius is also hunting the crew in order to obtain wormhole knowledge from Crichton's brain.

This guide features episode synopses from th second season of the show. The synposes are not particularly long but they are accompanied by quotes from the cast and crew. The book also contains interviews with the stars of the show, directors, producers etc. The features on the puppetry and creation of the aliens are interesting and there are character backgrounds and some terms to help you understand what the frell is happening in the more technical bits of some episodes.

The book is not particularly long, and the pictures are all in black and white. This is a shame as most of the products I've seen eg. calenders, postcards, websites etc. have some really stunning photos and pictures. This book would be much improved by the addition of some of these wonderful colour graphics from the show.... Read more ›

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice reference material. 12 Sep 2011

Recently finished watching the Farscape episodes, and was looking for something to give a little more information and background. I read each of the Illustrated Companions, and found them worth the purchase price. While nothing earth-shattering was revealed, they were interesting and make nice reference books for my sci-fi library.
