5.0 out of 5 stars Farmhouse Fare. 10 Jan 2011
Farmhouse Fare is a must for all those who are trying to re-discover all the cooking, preserving and winemaking skills once widespread throughout this country. In this book are found recipes handed down through families from one generation to another. There are recipes for herbal concoctions, furniture creams, beeswax polish and skin creams. How to use or preserve every part of the pig but the squeak. Thrifty hints. Freezing tips. The main section concentrates on good home cooking in the traditional British style, and typical favourites from around the uk are included. For those on a tight budget there are many recipes that would help feed a family using cheap but nutritious ingedients. I think this book needs a new edition- soon!

What a wonderful little book this is. A real gem. Heard about it on one of those self-sufficiency pages on facebook and its all it was cracked up to be. Full of old traditional recipes from real farms and farmers' wives. I harvest as much free fruit as I can from the hedgerows and this book has the best and most varied ways of preserving it. Excellent buy.
