Farmers, Temples and Tombs Pb (Historic Scotland)This small book (64 pages) mostly contains fine illustrations & they make my purchase of a used copy (published 1998) worthwhile. But Mr Barclay's book provides an overview of Scotland in the Neolithic & Early Bronze Age geared for a child or those with a wish to browse the topic. To be truly certain of your knowledge of anything addressed here, please seek other books on each topic or artifact. An example to illustrate my concern: on page 51 is a lunula from the collection of the National Museums of Scotland. Yes, it is from the Early Bronze Age & its find spot may have been in Scotland, but lunulae are almost exclusively from Ireland, & it's probable that this one was crafted there. For more information on lunulae & other gold jewelry of Early Bronze Age Ireland & Scotland consult The Accomplished Art: Gold and Gold-Working in Britain and Ireland during the Bronze Age (UK/BA-ART) by George Eogan, & Prehistoric Archaeology of Ireland by John Waddell. Historic Scotland did not require Mr Barclay to provide a bibliography & we are mostly on our own, should we wish to proceed.
