I love cooking but I prefer eating and I don't like recipes. That's why I really love this book. It looks great and has plenty of good suggestions but so do most cookbooks. What seems a bit different about this one is it encourages you to go out and but whatever's fresh (preferably from a farmers' market, but a supermarket would be OK), then take it home and look up how to cook it - rather than going out with a great list of things to buy for the sake of the recipe, which I always find offputting. I haven't had it long so I've only tried a few of the ideas, but so far so good: risotto with oyster mushrooms came out excellent, so did beef fillet with rosemary and mustard crust; also apple, pear and ginger smoothie for breakfast. Really useful for the impatient shopper!
