Product Description

Review

'The author plants herself firmly in the romantic comedy genre, attacks it with gusto and a refreshing lack of self-consciousness' - Elizabeth Buchan, SUNDAY TIMES 'This irresistible romp bursts with good humour' - GOOD HOUSEKEEPING A good summer read, this one isn't all froth - there's enough "messiness" here to make for a good tale. Our girl Flo discovers her true heart's desire and along the way makes life better for those around her. Although she does end up with the right man (and you can tell right from the start which one he is) it's not all hearts and roses. Ultimately, it's a satisfying story. READER REVIEW, AMAZON This is the first Maeve Haran book I have read and I loved it! The main character is very likeable and it is easy to empathise with her. The villains are vile and amusing and the rest of the cast loveable and well thought out. I couldn't put it down and cheered at the end. If you want a feel-good read, you can't go wrong with this book. 5-STAR READER REVIEW, AMAZON --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This book is an absolute gem, compulsive reading to the point where i could not put it down from the moment i picked it up to the moment i finished. Flora is a great character, she is funny, sassy and sensitive, but not soppy. Although the story is fairly predictable it doesn't matter, it aids the story if anything because you have to read on to find out when she will end up with her man and in the end you are left with the feeling that she has made the perfect choice. From the very beginning Flora is a character that i warmed to. She may get herself into some stupid situations but she is intelligent enough to get herself out of them. Flora is an independent woman, with a heart, a good looking girl, with brains and genuine problems that you just can't help but warm to. Then there are Hugo and Adam two male characters that you can't help but love, and the slimy Miles that you can't help but hate, but the ending sorts out the best and neatly finishes off all the doubts that you might have. This is the first of Maeve Haran's books that i've read and it certainly won't be the last.

I'm a big fan of the chick-lit catergory of books and I can usually judge a book by the time it takes me to read this. I started this one night in bed and finished it 2 hours later :) It's predictable but warm, gives you a nice glow inside, all the characters are rounded and realistic and Flora is an excellent centrepiece.
