This heat diffuser does its job excellently.
It is constructed of two metal sheets which
are a similar thickness to a tin can.
These are fixed together in a way that gives
a 1cm gap between both sides.
Even though it's made with thin metal, it is
sturdy enough to take a large saucepan.
I cook with gas, and at the lowest setting I
had been unable to get a really gentle simmer.
Using this product has solved that problem.
I would have rated this product five stars,
but had to knock of a star because after the
first use I washed off some spillages and then
dried it, only to find it slightly rusty the
next day.
Also the side of the diffuser which was in contact
with the flame has lost its lovely shine and turned
a dark mat grey.

Might have been a combination of my cheap tagine and a gas ring, but didn't really allow enough heat to get to the tagine and the handle got burnt.

Faringdon 20cm Wood Handle Heavy Duty Heat Diffuser
I bought this to replace a very rusty previous heat diffuser.
This one does not rust and the wooden handle makes it simple and safe to remove from the heat, very inexpensive too!

Diffuser
It works as it should, but the handle burns when used with gas. I would not say it was Heavy Duty.

Does what is required
I've only used this a couple of times since I bought it, but it seems to be up to the job. Yes, the wooden handle got a little scorched, but that seems unavoidable. Read more

Great little bit of kit
This item comes highly recommended. Works just as it should to reduce the amount of heat hitting your pan to achieve the perfect 'just simmering' state. Sturdy construction.

Great Heat Diffuser.
I highly recomend that every 'multi task chef' has a Faringdon Heat Diffuser. It stops the pre-made sauces (on the lowest heat) from 'Burning' in the middle of the pan.... Read more

heat diffuser
Item came in padded envelope but was dented and mis-shapen. Still in packaging as intended to return but haven't got round to it. Dissapointed!

The diffuser works great. It looks freaky but I guess that makes no odds really! Having a wooden handle is a very sensible idea... no burnt fingers.
