At long last I can retire my worn out old VHS Edition of this fantastic concert. I was devastated when Crowded House split and even sadder when dear Paul Hester died after taking his own life, it was such a shame and such a waste of talent. The concert is brilliant and well worth getting whether you have it on VHS or not. It is held at Sydney Opera House and all I can say it is just fantastic. I had the pleasure of seeing Crowded House and Neil Finn (solo tour) both at the Brighton Centre in 1994 and 1998. My advice if you like Crowded House and Neil Finn then buy this two DVD set. The concert is also available on CD as well.

This is a brilliant dvd, the sound and picture quality is excellent and what makes it stand out above other live dvd's is the (often hilarious and insightful) running commentary from Neil Finn, Nick Seymour and Mark Hart throughout the concert, which is on a separate audio track.
Disc 2 has some interesting insights on it too, for example when the (free) gig was put back 24 hours due to the weather, the band still played a soundcheck on the original day to anybody who cared to turn up... the soundcheck ended up being a full concert! How cool is that....!
Yeah, the Crowdies were a great live band and this dvd set is a great way to get into them......

Finally after 10 years a live DVD of the one of the best concert performances ever. Like all other Crowded House fans in the UK, we have had to put up with an edited TV version for years, now we have the full concert plus masses of extras.
If you choose to buy one concert DVD this year, this is the one that conveys now more than ever the power and soul of the great songwriting partnership that existed in this band. One day Crowded House will be credited with being the only other band that can be mentioned in the same breath as The Beatles, from a songwriting point of view.
The emotion that comes across from their devoted fans is hard to forget.
The sad death of Paul Hester should not stop them considering that their fans are still there, and despite a slew of average to good solo and duo albums by the Finn Brothers, not one has come close to anything the band did together.
A Farewell to the World? I hope not.
