There is quite literally nothing wrong with this album. It is exquisite. From the album images, the track names and the music itself, it is quite possibly the best Banco album yet, and this coming from someone who has them all (10 I think, including best of?).
Signature Banco melodies continue to perculate the tracks (which is in no way a bad thing, it is what Toby Marks excels at); and combined with fantastic beats and breaks (try not to start bouncing round the room to the sublime Ynys Elen, track 2) create wonderful music.
This seems a deeper and more thoughtful album than his last. It resonates with mood and feeling. There is the sorrowfulness and regret indicative of 'Last Train to Lhasa' or 'Izigeh'. There are the Arabic suggestions reminiscent of the fantastic 'Maya'. There's the hope and humour found in 'You are Here'. In fact he has managed to take every one of the best facets from each of his previous albums and knit them together to form an expansive, colourful and beautiful patchwork Banco quilt. It is as I said at the start, quite exquisite.
I would and have recommended this album to all, as I do with Banco albums full stop. Long shall it be in my stereo, making me smile.
