This is from the bestselling author of "Beyond comes Far Out: A Space-Time Chronicle". This collection of breathtaking, never-before-published images of the universe's farthest reaches reveals the grandeur of the universe's earliest eons - using computers, electronics, optics and satellite technology to expand the boundaries of human perception in an innovative and beautiful way. In "Far Out: A Space-Time Chronicle", author and filmmaker Michael Benson assembles an outstanding collection of astronomical images from astronomers and observatories around the world and in space. We live in a golden age of astronomical observation. Some of the resulting images are well known and have inspired millions of people; others, equally breathtaking, have never been published before. For this book, Benson has culled the very best and organized them into a thrilling journey through space and time to the universe's great places, ranging from 'nearby' nebulas in our own Milky Way galaxy to the light of the Hubble Deep Field that has traveled billions of light-years. Every bit as innovative and beautiful as the author's successful "Beyond: Visions of the Interplanetary Probes" but far grander in conception, "Far Out: A Space-Time Chronicle" is an inspiring work of art and science on the cutting edge of human perception.

This book should have a place in every astronomical library...I heartily recommend it without hesitation. -- Sir Patrick Moore, BBC Focus magazine, November, 2009

This is one of the most amaziing books I have ever seen in my life. People who find it on my coffee table are mesmerized. The idea that so much is hidden in the skies above us that we think are kind of empty, with some stars and planets, but full of "space" is completely fallacious! There's no "space" up there at all! You have to see these pictures to believe them. The quality and production of this book makes it the best (bargain) gift for that special someone -- I got it for myself for my birthday this year and it was the best present ever!
This is one of the most beautiful books you will ever open. Rapid advances in space photography in recent years have resulted in the ability to photograph very distant objects in space very clearly. The photographs in this book are overwhelming in their total impact: every page shows thousands of stars like our own. You wind up feeling very small and very humble indeed. Buy it, and see if you can actually look through all the pages in one session. I couldn't.
