    2.0 out of 5 stars KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! 2 Nov. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book itself was okay, but I feel like I'm the one from an alternative timeline; no-one so far has commented on it's derivativeness (is that a word?). For someone born in 1985, there's a huge chunk of this series lifted (pretty much scene-for scene) from Wrath Of Khan (released in 1982). Almost no originality, but on the good side, it made me dust off my old copy of "Rendezvous With Rama" (1973) which has more than a passing similarity to the parts of this book not taken from WofK and re-read it... then get the sequels and read them too... then dig out my Star Trek DVDs, and watch them too. So, I suppose you could call this an inspirational book, just not in the way the author might like.

3.0 out of 5 stars continue from the first series 10 Dec. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Was looking forward to continue from the highly rated first series.....,ended up a little disappointed.
Extremely annoyed when entire text/chapter was repeated again and again. There is a lot of resemblances to storyline in Star Trek Voyager and Arthur C Clark "Rama" storyline.
The encounter with the new race could have expanded with more details.
I hope Tony can, for the next series, keep the storyline tight n maintain the pace of narration.

According to the author this book actually comprises of at least three separate books. If I had to purchase all three separately I would have been massively disappointed, in my humble opinion this series constitutes a book.

The story itself has potential, it has pace, characters and enough twists and plots to maintain the readers interest and was enjoyable. Personally I found one or two of the characters a little flat and some of the twists you could see coming long before they arrived. Will I read the follow up? Only if it is packaged as book rather than a set of novellas.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Far from home 2 8 Jun. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I repeat the criticism I gave after reading the first series, sometimes a little trite and the movement of ships like aircraft. But like the first series it grabbed my attention and held it from start to finish. I definitely look forward to reading the rest of the series.

An excellent read, the only fault I can find is that because this is an omnibus edition you have repeats of the story as you read each book.
