Product Description

Sibyl Johnson is a graduate student in classical archeology. She is just this side of her Ph.D., when an anachronism at her dig in Italy causes her career to take a sudden lurch in time--and suddenly she's a slave in the very society she is studying. She, along with two others are castaways in time, victims of the same evil hand--and now they are out for vengeance.

I have to admit I loved the book. But, enjoying half a story isn't something I planned on doing. The first part of the book had a good strong character building that allowed me to get too involved. Then, after being extreemely frustrated with this book in a good/vengeful way, I was so disapointed when there was no ending. Even more so I was laughingly frustrated after looking for book two, only to find out there isn't one.

Linda, I look forward to reading your next book. the Unholy Trinity as stated in the back of this book. IT WILL BE THE NEXT BOOK OF HERS THAT I READ. If she doesn't write the sequel, I won't purchase another book written by her or published by BAEN books.

This is a wonderful time travel novel which includes a terrifying scene where the heroine is trapped in Pompeii when Vesuvius erupts in 79 A.D.

Sybil Johnson is a graduate student in archaeology. She is driving through a thunderstorm when suddenly a pattern of brilliant white light opens in front of her car - and next thing she knows she is a slave in ancient Rome.

Logan McKee, a former commando, now a mental patient, has been allowed out for a walking in a Florida swamp. He too gets caught in thunderstorm - and turns up in Alaska five years later.

Charlie Flynn was a tough Miami cop, who crossed the wrong criminals - and found himself a gladiator, forced to fight in the arena. It goes downhill from there ...

All three of them are castaways in time, all victims of the same evil conspiracy, all kept alive by the same anger and determination to stop the people responsible.

There is one absolutely huge snag with this book, which is that it is only the first half of the story - and we have been waiting for the sequel, "Unholy Trinity" for eleven years.

Come on Linda, please, please, please get round to writing the rest of the story !

I recommend this book to read during a triip, sick day or when it's raining outside. It was well written and while it was correct in historic content, it did not take wild guesses about the time, nor did it use ignorent misconceptions.

excellent, exciting, sad, and full of thrills
Great story - I however hated reading a book without an ending. I purchased a Sci-fi book by William Tedford (Time Quest) years ago. I tried for years to find the sequels. Read more

Good read
Evans has a knack for building suspense and uncertainty, and that combines with an unusually realistic (and horrifying) picture of human slavery to add up to a very readable and... Read more

Top end contemporary time travel/adventure novel.
Linda Evans has written a wonderful, but gut wrenching novel of time travel corrupted by greed and power. The protagonists are real and human. Read more
