From the Manufacturer

Welcome to Kyrat!

Built from the legendary DNA of its award-winning predecessor, Far Cry 4 delivers the most expansive and immersive Far Cry experience yet in an entirely new and massive open world, with integrated drop-in/drop-out co-op play.

Hidden in the towering Himalayas lies Kyrat, a country steeped in tradition and violence. You are Ajay Ghale. Travelling to Kyrat to fulfill your mother's dying wish, you find yourself caught up in a civil war to overthrow the oppressive regime of dictator Pagan Min. Explore and navigate this vast open world, where danger and unpredictability lurk around every corner.

Here, every decision counts, and every second is a story.

Explore an open world filled with possibilities

Discover the most diverse Far Cry world created yet. With terrain spanning from lush forests to the snowcapped Himalayas, the entire world is alive... and deadly!

From leopards, rhinos, black eagles, and vicious honey badgers, Kyrat is home to abundant wildlife. As you embark on your hunt for resources, know that something may be hunting you.

Scout enemy territory from above in the all-new gyrocopter and then plummet back to earth in your wing suit. Climb aboard the back of a six-ton elephant and unleash its raw power on your enemies.

Choose the right weapon for the job, no matter how insane or unpredictable that job might be. With a diverse arsenal, you'll be prepared for anything.

Key features

Pagan Min

Pagan Min is a raging narcissist with a God complex. He's always been a fan of his own image and the presentation of himself as a brand. Ambitious and ruthless, the self-proclaimed King of Kyrat was every bit the charismatic leader. He conquered Kyrat slowly, pulling people to his cause – including the Golden Path rebels.

Quickly enough, idealism surrenders to reality. Pagan Min believes that Kyrat's problems lie in its connection to the past. In trying to sever those connections, Pagan Min causes a split in his own camp. He may control much of Kyrat, but in making enemies with the Golden Path a rebellion is born.

Multiplayer modes

Co-op: bring a friend. Not every journey should be taken alone. Far Cry 4 allows for a second player to drop in and out at any point, re-imagining the cooperative experience in the true spirit of Far Cry for the next generation. You'll now be able to discover and explore the living open world of Kyrat together.

Plus, get a taste of Kyrat's embattled history in a brand new adversarial multiplayer mode. Play as a heavily armed soldier of the Golden Path rebellion, or as a member of the ancient Kalinag warrior tribe equipped with the lethal power of nature.

More game features

The arena: what will you become? Prove your combat prowess and fight for survival and fame in the arena. Earn the respect of roaring crowds and test your will to survive, battling man and beast alike, until only one contestant remains standing.

Map editor: deathtrap designer. Create and share your own maps using the most powerful and intuitive map editor ever offered in the Far Cry franchise. Your creations will get the attention they deserve thanks to its enhanced tools, improved interface, and the ability to publish and share your maps with the community.

3.0 out of 5 stars A great game held back by issues with the port. 23 Dec. 2014
Platform for Display:PC Download| Edition:Standard Edition|Verified Purchase
This game is considered Far Cry 3.5 by many, but I'm Ok with that, as many of the minor changes that they've made are ones that I wanted in Far Cry 3 that weren't included (the ability to drive and shoot, flying vehicles, more verticality that wasn't just unscalable cliff faces, a greater variety of locations etc.). Overall I'm very happy with the content of the game, so most of my issues are down to the PC port. Firstly, whatever version you play requires U-Play, which isn't as great an annoyance as it might have been, but I'd still rather avoid it. My main issues are within the game itself. The graphics are wonderful, and the environments are gorgeous (although the water texture is weirdly ugly, and actually looks worse than it did in Far Cry 3), but there are major micro-stutter issues. i found that to deal with them I have to keep V-Sync on, anti-aliasing off (although I am able to turn it on without increasing the stuttering too much) and most annoyingly I had to edit the game's configuration files. Although this is quite easy to do (you can find instructions on the internet and it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes) it was still an annoyance and in a full priced release this shouldn't be necessary. When the microstutter happens, trees are worst affected, causing them to flicker repeatedly, which gives me a headache and also causes the rest of the game to run quite badly, meaning that I can't play for too long. Even with the aforementioned fixes, it doesn't entirely remove the issue, and I am unable to play for more than a couple of hours at a time. This is running it on a system that isn't top of the range, but is still fairly powerful (including a GTX 770 GPU). Hopefully there will be patches to address this issue soon enough, and overall the game is still good, but I'd hold off on buying it for another few months if you're a PC gamer like me.

Horrible micro-stuttering/texture streaming issues cause things to flicker when moving around in the game. Changing the settings does not get rid of it. Personally I find this really annoying and I can not continue to play the game. If you think this wont be a problem for you and wont more of far cry 3 with mountains then fine, but for me this game is faulty/not functional and I have just wasted my money. No other product type can be sold defective like games, but thanks to shady terms and conditions developers and publishers get away with it because people like me do not pay proper attention to reviews and analysis like that by digital foundry of eurogamer. This review and others on here like it serve fair warning and I for one will be more careful in the future as I have no rights to a refund despite the product not working as described.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, though a bit like Far Cry 3 6 Jan. 2015
Platform for Display:PC Download| Edition:Standard Edition|Verified Purchase
It is an awesome game. I would highly recommend that you play it anybody who can. It is a graphically amazing game, I run it on an R9 290 on ultra at a stable 60fps, though it does max out my GPU and makes it run quite hot 60-65 degrees (though 95 degree rated card so yeah, not really concerned). I would say though that even for the lower settings it is a quite graphically demanding game so you do have to have a dedicated graphics card, you can't skate by on minimum settings on a low resolution with integrated graphics like you can in some games.
It is a big download, if you don't have unlimited data, get a disk as it is 32Gb download, plus if you get the disk get the limited edition, same price on amazon and then you don't have to pay again for the season pass which is the DLC at the moment.
The game has a ton of playthrough value and many hours of entertainment in it. I have played it for 28 and a half hours (thanks to rapter game-tracking with my GPU I get a precise time figure) and I am still only 40% of the way through the game, so it is a mammoth in terms of the game content that you get.
One of my favourite parts is the co-op mode where I can play with my friends, however I can't play through campaign missions, but only muck around on the world map and stuff so that is kinda disappointing.
You will kinda have a bit of difficulty to start off with in hard mode because the initial weapons will have a significant deal of pain in taking out the heavies, but once you get to around 30% of the way through you start to unlock really very powerful weapons, which make the game a fair bit easier, though stealth gets harder as you get more running and gunning weapons, which kinda make you lazy.

Step into a vast, unknowable land once again in this fourth game in the Far Cry franchise. Players find themselves in Kyrat, a wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic self-appointed king. Using a vast array of weapons, vehicles and animals, players will write their own story across an exotic open-world landscape. Built from the legendary DNA of its award-winning predecessor, Far Cry 4 delivers the most expansive and immersive Far Cry experience ever in an entirely new and massive open world with a new weapons, vehicles, wildlife and more.

Diversity is one of Far Cry 4’s strongest assets, and it overwhelms the mostly disappointing story with countless opportunities for free-form adventure and fun. Visual variety, tons of distinct side-quests, and a dense world with plenty of options always gave me something I wanted to do, and its satisfying economy had me obsessing over completing every side-quest. It’s a little safe, overall -- its competitive multiplayer stands out as a gamble that paid off -- in that it has many familiar elements from Far Cry 3 transplanted to an amazing new place, but those elements are incredibly empowering and rewarding.
