If you enjoyed the original descent boardgame (journeys in the dark), you'll be very happy with this expansion. The new monsters are sound and add some interesting new abilities, the treachery card concept is excellent and makes playing the overlord much more tactical, and the new heroes and treasure items also add some interesting variety, especially in terms of shop-items available at the outset of the game for the heroes. the new quest maps are highly novel, with interesting features, although some of these need house-ruling to achieve good balance. overall, well worth considering if you own JITD and want to liven up your game options. great value for money for the number of hour's play you'll get from this!

Bought this for our 15 yr old son for Christmas, we've been playing Descent for a year. Love this expansion - it definitely evens out the game for both sides, not just heroes bashing creatures but the overlord has a few more tricks up his sleeve. Our son has some social issues so this game has been great in making him think about group success, not just what he wants.

Descent is a game that I have enjoyed for a while now, and its nice to add on new quests for friends and I to play.
As I have said in my other review for the first expansion, my only complaint is there is not enough room for all the pieces.
I bag all the pieces individually, well all except the monsters and heroes, and there is never enough room in the box for it all.
The expansion makes the overlord more deadly, which I like because I enjoy being the overlord, and adds on just enough to keep the game going.
Not a bad expansion to get if you want to extend the life of Descent.
The other thing is the quality of the pieces. FF games continue to make impressive quality games, the pieces are thick, the monsters are durable, and the cards are great.
Overall I think more game makers need to look at FF and see how well they are made.

This box really expands what the overlord can do. There are things for the players as well - but the slant seems to be to the overlord. This keeps the game more interesting for the player in charge of trying to destroy, I mean defeat, her friends. Definately a fun addition to the game to keep your heros guessing.
